isn't it a factor to take into account that there is (and has been for a while) a more than generous offer on the table for mayweather to fight margarito(while there are none to fight those other guys)?

i would think that a guaranteed 8 mill. for the #1 p4p fighter in the world to fight a guy that is not even in the top 20 p4p is a darned steal. mayweather has fought guys who, ranked higher than that p4p for less money before. in fact, the 8 mill. would be a career-high purse.

I think it's pretty clear the only reason Arum made that offer is because he knew it wasn't feisable for Floyd to fight at that time. In October, he's not just missing Roger, his other trainer is still suspended. Arum also knew Floyd (who has a multi fight deal with HBO) is already signed to fight his own PPV date Nov. 4th.

An 8 Million dollar purse is completely unrealistic for that fight. It's not worth that much money, meaning Margarito would get next to nothing.

Arum's a snake, and notorious for ****ing with anyone who crosses him. Mayweather left Top Rank, and I think this is just Arum blowing smoke to **** with Floyd.

If Margarito wanted the fight as badly as some suggest, he'd be screaming for the Nov. 4th date, considering he'd be making the same money as he would 'if' that Oct date went through.

But the bottom line is that Tony will be content to take a payday on his own date in October.

He's not yelling and screaming like some of these losers on the internet are. I think he knows a Floyd fight will still be available to him at a later date if he keeps winning.

this is an interesting issue you bring out, because PBF is a promotional "free agent" now. that implies that he does not have a promoter that is actively shopping his services around and trying to make fights for him.

floyd has to sit around and wait for his manager to be either seeking to talk to the promoters of the fighters he wants to handpick, or simply wait for phonecalls to come to him.

margarito cannot go looking for another fight right at the moment, if you know what i mean. fans are not drumming for mayweather to fight anyone else or for margarito to fight someone else. margarito is next in line and though PBF is only going to give him birdseed in the contract that birdseed makes a pretty good retirement in mexico.

see, both hatton and cotto have promoters, and since they are kind of reluctant to face mayweather at this point, their promoters are not going to go out of their way to make mayweather an offer. this is why i think it is great for mayweather to have an excellent offer on the table to fight a guy that is willing to take him.

Floyd's not going to fight in October for the reasons I listed above.

Once again: If Tony's so desperate for the fight, why isn't he yelling for the Nov. 4th date, considering Mayweather said two days ago he was a possible opponent for that date.

As I mentioned in the previous post, Margarito's purse is likely to be the same on either date.

The reason is that Margarito isn't as desperate for the fight as some of the rabbid haters on here are suggesting.

After taxes and paying everybody off, out of the 1 million, Margarito probably only goes home with half of that. Which is a lot of money, and especially in Mexico. But thats not the reson why Margrito is willing to fight Mayweather for peanuts COMPARED to the 8 million Mayweather will get for this fight.

But If i was Margarito if Mayweather or Winky doesn't aggree to fight him -which they already turned him down- then If i was Margarito, i just keep fighting any ballsy mf who will enter the ring with him. And let the fans force a fight between either Maywether and Winky then ask from a better deal then the one hes already offerd.

Margarito is getting a lot of plublicity and all he has to do now is fight known fighters with some kind of name and sooner or later they all will be forced to fight Margarito. But the problem here is that nobody wants to face Margarito, especially the top names in the division.
