In any combat sport, you always hope and pray that you and your opponent make it out in good health. We have scumbags in boxing, but when is it that they’ve paid their dues?
Hoping that someone is critically injured or dead only shows how ****ed up your life is, how you wanted to, but couldn’t compete in this sport, or you just flat out have a **** character.
He is 41. His career is over. We have a new champion. Never kick a man when he’s down. It’ll happen to you too. Probably already has. If you’re self righteous, don’t talk to me. I’ll embarrass you...

Adonis Stevenson “suffers from severe traumatic brain injury”
"His condition requires mechanical respiratory assistance, deep sedation and specialized neurological monitoring. It is too early to comment on Mr. Stevenson's long-term prognosis. I urge the media to be very cautious about distributing medical information that does not come from an official medical source.”
They've just released that.
The 2nd paragraph was all deduced here. This is the first time that he “suffers from severe traumatic brain injury” has been released. For some reason, they withheld this for 4 days.
This new PR does not include what a previous one did, that they plan to end the induced coma on Friday IIRC. I don't know if that was erroneous or if he has worsened, or if they still plan to do that. This new PR says he is "stable but critical."Last edited by johnbook; 12-05-2018, 01:22 PM.

Above is the translated PR from the hospital and Dr Turgeon, who said Stevenson is likely to suffer sequelae from his injury. It includes video in French.
Below is translation, Google I think.:
It includes: "You saw him on television after the fight, Mr. Stevenson had a slightly more altered state of consciousness, so he fell into that category (severe traumatic brain injury)," said Dr. Turgeon. I think he's going to get out of this, but in medicine we're never 100 percent sure, but he's more likely to get by than to stay. "
As to what kind of sequelae might affect Stevenson, Dr. Turgeon said that it is too early to comment on the long-term medical prognosis.
"We are coming out of the most critical phase. Of course, we see some encouraging points, because we have a person who is sedated, so we control the environment, Dr. Turgeon explained. When we are able to get him out of this, then that is when we will be in a better position to assess his condition. "

His physician at that hospital, Dr. Turgeon, is an expert in critical care--which includes traumatic brain injury [TBI], anesthesiology and epidemiology. He is conducting state of the art research on the use of blood transfusion variations for TBI patients. That hospital is a top center in Canada, and maybe the world for TBI.
So perhaps that is the best place he could have been brought to, to save his life and to try to bring him back as fully as possible.
