I counted - throughout the whole fight, mind you - 10 punches that Wilder connected with that actually did some sort of harm. Everything else was a light touch or slipped.

I'll say it again for people who keep forgetting. Punches are not the only measure of who won a fight and you score them round by round.

    There are four criteria.

Ring Generalship - Fury. All Fury. In fact, Fury was ring general in all but the 12th. Even in Round 9 after he got up, he was sonning Wilder like he wasn't ever dropped, which is how I know he wasn't really hurt. That's why I said you could technically just score it a 10/9 for Wilder because the KD is ALL he had that round.

Effective Defense - Fury. Watch the fight again. Wilder was getting hit, Wilder was barely able to hit the guy in front of him - and yes, Fury was right front of him for 11 of the 12 rounds. Wilder still couldn't hit him.

Punches Landed - Fury. Every time Fury wanted to connect, he connected. Straight through the guard, around the guard, over the top of the punch, to the body, it didn't matter. Meanwhile Wilder was flailing and missing shots, looking like he did when he faced Szpilka.

Effective Aggression - I gave to Wilder ONLY because Fury wouldn't throw hands for half the fight. So even though he was effective when he did throw hands, he refused to throw hands. It's like he was trying to play counterpuncher when he didn't need to and that actually was one factor that got him rocked.

Problem with some of you is that you're only looking at punches. Even there Wilder didn't win! 1-2 knockdowns when you got blown out otherwise don't win you a fight.

I'm sorry. There's no way you will convince me that Wilder won more than 2 rounds of this fight. You have no argument for it.

I had the exact same scorecard, including the drawn round. Good eyes.

115-111 I had for Fury..... 9-3 in rounds. I gave Wilder the second (just) and the 2 rounds he got the KD's...... even though Fury arguably was winning or came back and won the round overall.

A comprehensive victory despite the two KD's IMO.

          Fury won the fight clearly.

As for the 4 areas of how to judge a fight. Fury owned all of them .

Im a rematch fury beats him again and likely even stop wilder next time.

I think straight coming forward would have been dangerous against Wilder, but I do think Fury should have upped his output, because accuracy was not a problem for him. Deontay was there to be hit and I do think that if he'd done that, we wouldn't have seen a draw outcome regardless.

It's sad, really. The ONLY thing people can hang their hat on is the Round 12 KD and some myth that Reiss allowed Fury to "walk it off".

When you recover from a knockdown, the first thing the ref instructs you to do is back into a corner, usually a neutral corner from your own. That had to happen because Fury was nowhere near a neutral corner. Thus the "walking" people are talking about.

Second, the ref's job is to look into your eyes both on the ground and on your feet and get a sense of whether the fighter is aware of their surroundings. After the first knockdown, Fury made a gesture at the lights, which means he was lucid and available. After both knockdowns he put his hands on the ref's shoulders to let him know (A) I know you're the ref, (B) I can see you clearly and (C) I'm balanced enough to continue.

Ultimately, the knockdown was not counted as a knockout because Fury was still lucid even on the mat. He was taking the full count to recover to avoid another Judah/Tszyu Bambi situation.

You all need to recognize Fury's ring IQ. It's higher than people give him credit for.

As we get close to the rematch, pulling this back up for reference.

Let's hope these judges do a better job scoring. Although two of them are well known for favoring aggressors, be they effective or not.
