Comments Thread For: Malignaggi: Fury Has Shown Can't Judge Him On Past Performances

Paulie Malignaggi admits Tyson Fury hasn’t looked particularly impressive in his two fights since ending a 2½-year layoff. Nevertheless, the retired two-division champion cautioned those that are doubting Fury’s chances against Wilder to avoid basing their opinions on those forgettable victories over Sefer Seferi and Francesco Pianeta. Malignaggi discussed the Wilder-Fury fight, scheduled for December 1 in Los Angeles, during an open workout Wednesday in Manchester, England, to promote the Oleksandr Usyk-Tony Bellew bout Saturday night.

People seem to forget that Wilder was running like a biotch in that first Stiverne fight. And the Ortiz fight he got rocked and saved by the ref. The only two fights in which anyone even thought Wilder could struggle in - he did. He's never beaten anyone that people thought could be a threat easily. Casual Newbs always overhype punchers as it is because they are used to boxing putting on punchers in showcase fights. If Fury has anything left, he'll toy with Wilder over 12 rounds, and maybe knock him out if Wilder gets desperate and reckless.

Wasn't Paulie supposed to be an analyst, not a promoter?
Yes, every fighter should be judged on his past performances, and Gypsy Clown's last 2 "performances" were total krap. He's got no chance.

Who knows how damaged fury is internally, its one thing being physically fit but if his mind isnt sharp he's getting clipped alcohol & coke dulls the mind. Abusing it can irreparably alter your speed of thought processes etc

Are there any boxers who have treated there bodies like fury and came back at the very top level I cant think of one.

Callum Smith was hardly emphatic in his first 2 WBSS fights but was great against Groves.

Paulie’s wrong though. Fury looked very good coming into the Klitschko fight I bet on him to win by KO

              Yeah,

He made Chisora and Hammer both quit on their stools in his two fights before the Wlad fight.

Not that either are great, but both have been in with good fighters and never looked like getting stopped. You would have to put up some performance to make a man like Chisora get pulled out.

People often say that Ortiz was old when Deontay fought him but no one ever mentions that Wladimir was old when Fury fought him too. Klitschko was a washed up version of himself when Tyson defeated him; Which so happened to be the best win on the "Gypsy King's resume.

I don't know what Paulie is talking about. Fury looked a lot better vs Hammer than he did against Pianeta.

When i look at Wilder's resume the only 2 names are Stivrene and Ortiz.

Neither of those guys are on Fury's level and Wilder looked pretty ragged in the first fight with Stiverne and went life and death with Ortiz.

If Fury is OK physically, he should outbox Wilder relatively easily.
