Baer had wild looping punches. But if one glanced off an opponent they often went down. Took glee in going for the "kill."
Baer had his sledgehammer right too. But was said to be a gentle man when not in the ring. I think Wilder is the same.
Wilder said he wants to kill someone in the ring. Sadly Baer did take 2 lives. He was even charged with manslaughter for the 2nd. He was acquitted. Was so deadly, CA banned him for a while from boxing there. Gave his fight proceeds to the widow for several fights. I think if Wilder ever did do that he would soon regret it deeply.
Unlike Wilder, Baer had poor stamina, even moreso after he literally went Hollywood.
Wilder and Baer--often look/looked amateurish and wild, but when they connect, even with glancing blows, it's often goodnight.
