Mayweather, the long-reigning world number 1, against the younger, very athletic and lightning fast hands of Khan. In a hypothetical match up, that most, myself included, felt that Khan (at the time) would just have too much for Mayweather to handle.

Khan lost the fight to a very controversial split decision after having two points deducted. One judge had Khan by about 5 Rounds, so by 7 excluding the wrongly deducted points, which seemed about right.

Had Khan got his rightful win, the road warrior would have likely taken over Mayweather's P4P status and unbeaten record, and maybe went down as the greatest to have ever laced them up. One bad decision that night, and a whole lot of controversy, changed boxing history, forever.
    I totally agree alt.

Aye guys, where do we dump the body?

Ah good, there are Khan fans out there that actually think he'd be some kind of ATG which is ridiculous, was hoping you was one of them so I could bring up the Prescott fight.

      Any chance to post this

People forget because of how trash his career has gone, but Khan was the Canelo of that time.

I remember he was destined for greatness.

Lmao one of my favorite fights to watch when I'm feeling down. Also love seeing the end of round 3 vs Danny.

Really an open and shut case.

For the record it was a close fight and I had Khan 115-113 or 114-112 with the deductions.

Wasnt a robbery, but definitely bad money in play

Khan is ATG 2 round fighter. Horrible beyond that. He is dense as plywood and doesnt understand how to change what hes doing on the fly.

There is an aptitude to good boxers. Khan never had it despite having world class hand speed

Gold, what an unbelievable load of BS. The ref had every right to take the two points from Khan. He warned Khan about a hundred times to stop pushing and Khan refused to stop. What was the ref supposed to do?Beg Khan to please stop pushing. Khan ran too much and I thought Peterson beat him. If Khan had won he still would have been KOed by Garcia and Canelo. He still would have taken two years off from boxing. He still would have returned as a complete cherry picker. He still would have gotten knocked down by total cherry pick 50 to 1 underdog Vargas. He still would be afraid to fight a drained 147 pound Brook without a 2nd weigh in to drain Brook even more.

I agree that they did a number on Khan in this fight. Peterson fought a dirty fight also but didn't get deductions.

I scored Khan up by 2 points even with the deductions. Peterson was knocked down also.

The robbery doesn't change the fact that Khan would still have got stopped by Garcia in their unification.. What it does mean is that for a short while Khan would have been number 1 at 140lbs (until he faced Garcia), as Bradley moved up to face Pacquiao. The Ring Magazine title was on the line for Khan vs. Garcia so if Khan got the W against Peterson then he and Danny Garcia would have been consensus 1 & 2 going in to their fight for WBC, WBA, IBF titles. Garcia's lineal title would have descended from the Khan fight, as opposed to the Matthysse fight a year later. So it affects Garcia's career/legacy as well as Khan's, and Matthysse's for those who feel he won the fight.

As for Khan beating Mayweather? Nope. Khan loses a competitive fight by 3 points, maybe late stoppage.
