Munguia sticking with Golden Boy
Collapse

it makes sense look at how his popularity has risen since they started promoting his fights. He went from unknown to world champ and fighting on Canelo's undercard. He already extended once. After reports leaked that he only owed Golden Boy 1 fight (the liam smith fight) that he was leaving golden boy. Well after that fight he signed a extension gave them more options to land on the Canelo undercard. He's been showing up to Golden Boy events since and seems very happy. The biggest payday is a Canelo showdown maybe a year from now. He's huge for 154 and moving to 160 very soon. Well all the belts at 160 are now under DAZN including the cash cow. No brainer. -

That seemed obvious to me, but I know some cats where suggesting TR was gonna get him. ESPN beats DAZN in viewership, but I'm betting Oscar is more loose on the purse strings than Bob. Plus what does TR have for Munguia? DAZN has the who's who of MW when Munguia is ready to move up which I think most feel could be at any moment + there is a potential huge Mexican fan fight with Canelo.Comment

But but but but Zanfer was taking him to ESPN doe???? That made no sense at all. Dude will be a MW soon enough and all his options are at DAZN. Why would he leave to ESPN? Literally have no one at 154 and barely anyone at 160.Comment

Apparently Zanfer were taking their whole stable to ESPN. Think Uzcategui has gone to PBC since that was supposed to happenComment

I think Arum is the one who leaked that Munguia would leave Golden Boy after the Smith fight and then leaked that he would leave after his January fight. It never made sense for him to sign with Top Rank when they have NOTHING at 154 or 160. PBC has 154 on lock and DAZN has 160 on lock and Canelo. You sign with either of them depending what weight is Munguia's future. The last place you go is Top Rank who has nothing until you get to 168. But the original reporting last summer that said he was leaving then was wrong. And it seems like the reporting a few weeks ago he is leaving now is also wrong.Last edited by bigdunny1; 11-21-2018, 01:39 PM.Comment

I don't think that is confirmed yet, but yeah if he goes to the PBC and Munguia goes to GBP, then clearly Zanfer is doing its job. Maximizing the opportunities for their fighters. I never bought that ESPN wouldn't give them dates if they didn't get the full stable. What the hell is ESPN going to do or TR in particular? TR doesn't have the fighters to run 30 shows a year. They will still air Berchelt and Estrada etc.Comment
