Few people would be interested in seeing a three round exhibition but no hating Mayweather for more easy money. He was a great boxer, and we could hardly expect him to fight Crawford or a rematch with Canelo at his age now. A catchweight against Loma would have been interesting, and even allow Floyd a sizable weight advantage. But yes, he would only fight Pacquaio again, who is fighting Broner, who has already lost a few times and was never elite.Comment

This sounds a lot like an endorsement deal. Rizin gives Floyd a big chunk of money and Floyd moves around a ring for 9 minutes with some guy weighing 130 lbs.
I get it. It is already working. I never even heard of Rizin until a week or two ago when this was announced the first time. Now Rizin has been in the news multiple times over the last two weeks. Think how many people have now heard of Rizin.
That's my take on this. Instead of filming a few crappy commercials, they pay Floyd for a "boxing" exhibition. It has gotten them more exposure than a bunch of commercials would. And Floyd is happy cashing Rizin's checks. Pac did some commercials. All kinds of top athletes do commercials. This is similar, in that it is to get publicity and exposure which should lead to more revenue for Rizin.Comment

I don't think he's getting paid that $88M no more is probably what thats about.
I think its very likely in many people's minds Nasukawa "wins" this exhibition. I'm actually curious if there will be any sort of decision announced. It seems like Rizin would have to do something like that with this to appeal to the audience. This NYE sh^t is like the Cinco de Mayo boxing cards of Japanese MMA.
Or they are gonna have to find a real main event & this will be a special feature to the card & not the main event.Comment

Think how many people have now heard of Rizin-that never did before. All because Floyd says he will move around a ring with some featherweight. I don't think they are trying to sell this as some big ppv. It is more of an advertisement. Instead of commercials, they do this, and it gets Rizin more exposure.
It has worked already, even if the exhibition never takes place.Comment
