I notice that whenever a fighter is on the back-foot they are automatically out-boxing their opponent. So a guy on the front foot can't outbox anyone? It's just a general question.
Usyk took Bellew's left hand right away. Bellew didn't really land any jabs or left hooks during the fight now did he?
It took Usyk a few rounds to make adjustments to Bellew's plan, but he figured it out by the fourth.
Some people, not saying you, act like Usyk wasn't doing anything, but why was Bellew tired by the 5th round? Usyk knew what he was doing. He took Bellew's left hand away, which made Bellew rely solely on his right hand. Bellew was able to catch Usyk a few times with the right, but he missed it more than he landed. That is one of the things that contributed to Tony getting tired so quick. Plus the constant pressure and feints that Usyk was doing.
Bellew looked like he was in the shape of his life. Usyk has done this to several opponents already. He just puts a lot of mental and physical pressure on guys.
Usyk's front foot game really doesn't get a lot of credit. The funny thing is that his front foot game is considered his weakest.
I think Bellew gave Usyk a few problems, but I do think some are exaggerating his success. Most people expected a blowout so, once they saw that Bellew had success they automatically assumed the worst.
I knew Tony was going to go hard in this fight. It was going to be his last fight after all.
