The boxing industry awaits the next move of former unified middleweight champion, Gennady Golovkin (38-1-1, 34 KOs) who is now a television free agent. There have been some rumbling of him facing newly minted WBA super middleweight champion, Callum Smith (25-0, 18 KOs). Golovkin’s promoter, Tom Loeffler, told ESPN.com that he has spoken to Smith's promoter, Eddie Hearn, for a possible fight, but he also said that there really hasn't been any serious discussions. “First, we're going to focus on getting a television deal done him,” Loeffler said. “After that, we'll figure out who makes the most sense for him to fight." The 36 year old Golovkin (38-1-1, 34 KOs) suffered his first professional defeat in September to Canelo Alvarez (50-1-2, 34 KOs) in what was a close 12-round split decision in Las Vegas.

GGG is getting old now n slowing down probably has 4 fights left y not go after money fights Callum smith in England imagine how that win would set up canelo rubber match, Jacobs and Ramirez or an easy 1 vs Julio Cesar Chavez jr that's easy good money plus more views than Charlo Andrade Hurd ect. Canelo is a priority for him for GGG won the first fight Canelo won the 2nd so only fair for a 3rd plus best money he ain't gone make 20-25m anywhere else less mayweather comes back fight him which we know isn't the case

Can't see Golovkin taking a fight like this, no point in 'one upping' an opponent he barely lost to. If GGG wanted to move up he could have done it years ago not at 37 and on the decline. GGG makes 160 fairly easy, I am hoping for a fight with Andrade or a Jacobs rematch, if he takes on a bum I think the fans will be disappointed.
