I actually took the meaning that he thought Bellew exceeded his ability and as such people should be praising Bellew in his loss rather than Usyk in his win.

LOL! Many fights have a feeling out process. It was clear this is what was going on. I am not a huge fan of Compubox but it does help provide some context.

In the first round here are the Compubox numbers:

      Fighter, punches thrown, punches landed
      Usyk, 20, 3 (3 jabs landed)
      Bellew, 23, 1 (1 power punch landed)

I would argue that Usyk didn't even throw 20 real punches. You'd be all out to find one.

And Bellew wasn't very effective but at least his punches seemed to have some steam. On just pure inactivity Bellew won the round but again it wasn't like he was doing much.

      Round 2

      Usyk, 34, 10
      Bellew, 29, 8

Only marginally did Usyk throw a bit more but still really low output. Bellew again won IMO because of Usyk lack of activity and Bellew showed more.

By round three Usyk fired off 60 punch doubling round 2 and tripling round 3 output.

The numbers show clearly what I saw. Usyk was in a let me see what he has and how I'm going to attack him. Once he upped his activity the fight gradually went his way.

It wasn't like Bellew was imposing his will on Usyk. Usyk studied Bellew for a few round and then put the pedal to the metal and then broke Bellew.

Figuring out doesn't mean they aren't trying to win rounds. It just means they don't know how to until they do.

His primary purpose wasn't to win the first few rounds it was to determine his opponents approach. How can't you understand this? I'm sure he didn't want to lose the round but his #1 goal wasn't to win it. His number one goal was to formulate his strategy of attack and the results were evident. Once he determined it he took increasing control.

LOL! You are beyond help. Usyk destroys Bellew in 8 rounds and you are yammering on about the first two rounds where basically nothing of true note happened. Just a feeling out process.

LOL, SMH! I haven't heard such foolishness since McGregor fans about how he was competitive against Mayweather because of the first rounds of the fight. And hell in comparison Mayweather's performance in that fight was light years worse than this fight considering the opposition. I'm sure you were one of those bashing Mayweather's performance vs. McGregor right?

Usyk cut far more weight that Bellew late. Bellew go his weight down early. He just fought a better fighter. Great fight. Also met the mayor of Manchester - should be Labour leader.

100% agreed, Yes Bellew was moving, and yes he was defensive BUT Usyk was getting the best of him I had Usyk winning the fight comfortably without the KO.

The thing is Malignaggi will allways defend that type of fight (defensive) as long as is not Canelo, but other than that for Malignaggi jab and moving is his bread and butter.
