... it's Ward himself who said he would end his career at the HW...

Andre Ward would like to finish career at heavyweight

Plus there's not really a lot of money there compared to the Bellew fight.
Ward should've been angling for Stevenson or one of the other top LHWs. He could fight once or twice more IMHO

None of the other LHWs are punchers like Kovalev. Alvarez is an accumulation guy and Stevenson has literally one punch with zero stamina and can only fight at mid-range.

Ward could beat the top LHW guys today and that would do loads for his legacy.

As it stands Ward will go down 2-0 against Kovy, but most people will agree its 1-1 or at least 1-0-1. Nothing wrong with that as Ward was moving up in weight late in his career, but Kovalev couldve won 116-111 with 113-113 being the worst possible outcome IMHO

Ward beats all current LHW - it's a watered down division now...much like WW which is also just a 2 dog race.

Best divisions in boxing atm are MW and LWW. HW gets a shout as does JMW

I still think Ward could beat him though. Usyk isn't a murderer and Ward is far more skilled than anyone Usyk has faced.
You guys underestimate Usyk. The guy is methodical. He softens his opponents up and takes them out middle rounds. Ward is a very good fighter but Usyk is good and big. Good big guy beats a good small guy.

This - specially at near 35 years old. At the very least it would force him to adopt a very different energy conservation strategy, not to mention that he's used to being able to muscle guys around on the inside... too many changes too late in his boxing life.

How can u duck someone when u are retired and not even in the same weightclass? Usyk also didnt call ward out. They have never been on collision course.

Then Ward shouldn't have been talking about fighting the likes of AJ.

He's certainly big enough for Usyk if he thinks he can fight at heavyweight.

who cares anyway? he's retired (or so he says)

Andre beats usyk period. S.O.G. is too SKILLED for usyk, usyk gets hit too easy with jabs, rights, rights to the body & left hooks & he is flat-footed.
