Comments Thread For: Beterbiev Was Advised By Coach To Push Back Smith Defense

IBF light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev and his team have pushed a scheduled second defense against Joe Smith from December 15 to sometime in February citing too swift a turnaround a span of 69 days -- from last month's fourth-round stoppage victory over previously unbeaten Callum Johnson in Chicago.

Weak excuse coming from the coach and Beterbiev. His last fight went 4 rounds! Gtfoh

I don't blame them. Beterbiev was hurt in his last fight and Smith is a big puncher. Get some more time to train and then fight him early next year.

Need to take some time out and work on his defense, Joe Smith I think can knock him out if he catches him like Johnson was able to catch him

In other words, he needs more time to cut weight

Don't blame him. At the world class level 2mos might be TOO quick of a turnaround. His last opponent didn't suck & his next opponent don't suck.

If he had KO'd the last guy in a round or two fair play. But it was a tough fight where he got dropped. I think taking more than 2mos between fight is standard in this situation.

Fair enough. This is world level boxing, can't take things lightly because one loss can take him way back!

Very wise move! Beterbiev is 33, not 23! Should be a decent scrap! Badou Jack vs. Marcus Browne! Let's Go! Stevenson vs. Gvozdyk! Let's Get it! Alvarez vs. Kovalev II! Do or Die! 175, I see you! MAN UP!
