  • Comments Thread For: Jarrett Hurd: I'd Never Underestimate J-Rock, Still Think I KO Him

Jarrett Hurd's nickname, "Swift," is appropriate given his rapid ascension and crowd-pleasing style as a unified IBO/IBF/WBA junior middleweight champion who first entered a boxing gym as a 15-year-old at the urging of his father, Fred Sr.

    October 29, 2018:

Super-welterweight contender Julian Williams (25-1, 15 KOs) is all but set to be fighting undefeated Japanese fighter Takeshi Inoue in an IBF final eliminator bout in December. Williams is coming off the back of a 12-round majority decision victory over Nathaniel Gallimore in April and is looking to lock down a second opportunity at the title after suffering his first professional defeat to Jermall Charlo in December 2016.

Williams has only fought once in 2018 and was hoping to get three fights in this year, and said he tried to fight a lot sooner than December but is looking to cement another world title shot heading into 2019 and hunt for a second opportunity in the spring.

”I’m looking to get back in the ring sometime in December before the year is out,” revealed Williams. ”I was ordered by the IBF to fight Takeshi Inoue, his name was getting thrown around with Jaime Munguia for a potential opponent for him but the IBF ordered me to fight him a few months back so that’s the guy I got to fight for the IBF eliminator. He’s an unknown to me. I can’t find much tape on him, so it’s a little bit difficult but I will adjust. The fight could be announced within the next week. That’s the fight I am looking at next.”

Munguia and Hurd would be a war. Both are heavy punchers and like to come forward. Could be a FOTY candidate for 2019 if it ever gets made

I have no idea! It has NOT been officially announced yet! IDK what's the hold up? I also just read this too:

          RING TV

          November 2, 2018:

Gervonta Davis, Abner Mares approaching deal for title fight in early 2019

The long-rumored fight between Gervonta Davis and Abner Mares is going to happen after all.

A deal is all but in place for “Tank” Davis to defend his junior lightweight title against Mares in early 2019, industry sources told The Ring. The PBC bout will be broadcast on either Showtime or Fox.

Mares, who’s won titles at 118 pounds, 122 and 126, will move up to 130 for the opportunity to once again call himself champion. Mares (31-3-1, 15 knockouts) campaigned at featherweight since 2013, and the 32-year-old’s last fight was a 126-pound title rematch with Leo Santa Cruz in June, a fight he narrowly lost on the scorecards.

Davis (20-0, 19 KOs) remains one of the sport’s best young talents, but he’s been inactive since his third-round stoppage of Jesus Cuellar in April due to a myriad of issues. The 23-year-old was arrested for fighting outside of a Washington D.C., nightclub in September. When he’s appeared in public, Davis is noticeably far heavier than the 130 pounds he competes at.

He’s back in training now, though, and on track for the fight with Mares. Davis, one of the biggest punchers in boxing, is rated No. 2 by The Ring at junior lightweight. Mares, No. 5 at featherweight, represents the sternest challenge of Davis’ career.

Props to J Rock for working his way back, taking a L doesn't mean the end of your career at all

Hmm that's weird. Wasn't he like number 2 last month? Sounds like he got an offer from Hearn for another fight lol.
