    Great idea in theory

And in a perfect World there’d be 1 recognized Strap with 1 champ but in a perfect world there’d be no war or people going hungry either but it still happens.

But it’s probably not doable globally , Boxing is spread out all over the world with so many weight classes and promoters with $ have so much power and influence over the sport it’d be almost impossible to set up and run a system world wide that doesn’t cater to the stars of the sport or the $ the promoters have to influence the sanctioning bodies

If a new organization set up and didn’t cater to the stars or promoters, They’d find a organization that would

Boxing has and will always be a corrupt business slash circus even when there was 1 strap . It’s basically the only sport that doesn’t even try and pretend to be a sport as far as combatants supposedly playing on a level playing field.

As far as the Champion having to defend 2x a year against a top 10 and the #1 , that’s not doable either and just a pipe dream. Fighters and their team want to make the most amount of $ and have a long career. If you consistently throw them down a gauntlet they won’t be able to achieve either and you have a system that doesn’t enable that.

Isn't the IBO supposed to do a lot of this (I'm not defending the IBO in anyway) . its supposed to be non profit and based on boxrec for rankings.

(Yes I'm aware everyone ignore it).

Lyle Fitzsimmons needs to look up the history of sanctioning bodies, clubs, schools, and amphitheatres.

It's very much like reading someone's case for democracy being made based on ancient Greek democracy. We've done this. We've done every suggestion. Where do y'all think sanctioning bodies got their authorities? Have you never heard of champion's prerogative? You are calling for boxing to return to the 18th century.

Just a quick recap over the flow of boxing authority.

Figg's Amphitheatre, Tailor's Amphitheatre, Broughton's Amphitheatre. Broughton and Tailor fought for supremacy, Slack and the Fancy( The fancy is an olden term you've probably guessed the meaning of, rich folk who enjoy boxing. King George was the man who first awarded a champion a belt. it was lionskin and given to Tom Cribb in 1810), The pugilistic club, The national sporting club, newspapers(Police Gazette etc), athletic commissions(NYSAC), then sanctioning bodies(IBU).

Do you really think we do not have a wealth of history that spans over a century and speaks to how champions behave when they control boxing themselves? Of course that's the origin. What else did you expect to see?

You know what would be really interesting Lyle? If y'all authors did a little research and explained to these kids how much the sanctioning bodies actually cleaned up boxing rather than doing piss poor research on the subject and enforcing their assumptions.

Champions controlling boxing is the absolute worst thing any fan can hope to see happen to the sport. Boxing invented WWE style shows under Champion's Prerogative.

Other than that good read though.

Absolutely love the idea of a single and independent ranking system that the sanctioning bodies have to use !

Maybe add in that the challenger has to be top 10 or so to qualify as a championship fight and its a bingo.

Greed won't let sanctioning bodies remain legit even if they start off that way. Look at all the catchweights, step asides, specialized belts, and fast tracks to world titles we've had in recent memory. I'm one of those guys that believes all pro sports are rigged to some degree for entertainment purposes though. Some ref calls just tell me that the whole thing is a BS racket, and decisions in boxing make me feel that way too.

See that's the problem right there with this sport nobody actually wants change. Why can't we defend the IBO becuase we don't want a 5th belt? So what they all suck and money Hunger the IBO is the only one and maybe the IBF that makes sense. I get it, it has no history but I do like their business operations. Al Haymon and Oscar could just buy all the belts and depose of them. Just keep one of them.

You telling me out of 365 days of the year fighting two mandstories is really a struggle? They just want easy fights for alot of money they don't really want to fight. They should have at least four fights a year min. 1 every three months. Back in the days they used to fight once a month.
