Burnett's balance was way off on the punch he hurt his back on.
I wouldn't doubt he hurt his back in camp and thought it would be OK.
Burnett wouldn't have been able to continue anyway but I don't understand his corner sitting him down after a back strain, sitting contracts the muscle, you want to stand and keep it stretched.

I think they knew it was over, having gotten a good look at how the remaining rounds were going to look those last moments of the round.

Just not an injury you can continue on vs a guy like Donaire, even a bit washed.
