And Martin is hellishly underexperienced in the pro-ranks and probably should be expected to lose against Taylor - but are you saying they shouldn't have taken the chance? Sanchez can only work with what he has, like any other trainer.

The problem Abel Sanchez have is he not teach his fighters defense, he is more on the offensive side, also that crap of teaching how to cut the ring is bull sh¡t and a lie, his fighters have a tendency to be one dimensional. Hell! even Freddie Roach is better in a sense. Josh Taylor is better fighter than Ryan Martin and he is more proven. There are better trainers out there than Abel Sanchez.

It'll reflect poorly on his manager or promoter for putting him in to a high level tourney before he's ready... or maybe it won't. No real shame in losing in the WBSS cos 7 out of 8 guys are gonna lose anyway and perhaps the experience of a high level fight will be good for him. It's the kind of gamble that could pay off spectacularly.

Any trainer can do their best to prepare a fighter for the top flight, but there's no substitute for actual in ring experience against increasingly good fighters and that's what Ryan Martin is lacking. Whatever happens it's gonna be a baptism of fire for the kid.
