Comments Thread For: Heather Hardy Out-Boxes Vincent, Wins WBO Featherweight Belt

NEW YORK There shouldn't be much debate about Heather Hardy's second victory over Shelly Vincent. Brooklyn's Hardy out-boxed her aggressive rival, consistently found a home for her right uppercut and won a unanimous decision in their 10-round rematch Saturday night. Judges Glenn Feldman (97-93), Kevin Morgan (97-93) and Alan Rubinstein (99-91) scored Hardy a convincing victor over the game Vincent on the Daniel Jacobs-Sergiy Derevyanchenko undercard in The Theater at Madison Square Garden.

Serious question - her opponent was loaded up on testosterone as evidenced by the full beard. How in hell can that be legal?

That wasn't the first dude that Heather has fought and it sure as hell won't be the last either. Women in sport should demand testosterone checks. Everyone knows what's going on but they also know they'll get accused of being h0mophobic and all that crap, just for pointing out the obvious - that some of these "women" are a lot more man than woman.

I was impressed by the quality of the fight (as compared to most women's boxing, and certainly as compared to women's boxing in previous years, I dunno, say 20 years ago), but also, it got me wondering how long it will be before women's boxing can make it on its own. We get these women's fights kind of 'tagged on' to the men's boxing, and even pushed up on the cards, out of place... there's definitely something fierce about the female psyche, and the styles that will come out of it are potentially very exciting for boxing, but it should not be merely in relation to men's boxing, it needs to become its own thing, it's gonna take a helluva long time tho

I guess what I'm saying is that I don't like seeing women being merely poor imitators of male behaviour - they need to purify and distill their own essential nature

Whenever Shields/Hammer happens, it'll be the biggest women's boxing event ever and definitely headline on Showtime.

No, it's not PPV, but it's a start.
