Well yeah, we're talking about the DAZN USA lineup after all. DAZN has different rights in different countries. My deal with DAZN includes half a dozen countries, but not the US. They certainly didn't sign Jesse Vargas and have him headline in Chicago because they thought he'd help put DAZN on the map in Italy or Germany. Hearn was supposed to put DAZN on the map in the US. He failed to land any US stars and Joshua's first fight was virtually ignored in the US and failed to generate anywhere near the amount of sign ups they expected.

Oscar is a liability, they have the right man in Hearn for what they have planned.
Oscar has a fighter the US is interested in watching. Hearn doesn't.

DAZN haven't just tasked Hearn to get in the US market, theyre funding him to go for the world.
And if DAZN decides in two years to cut ties with Hearn in the US, or renegotiate a smaller deal for the US, it doesn't mean they wouldn't work with him elsewhere. DAZN is hoping to get the UK exclusive on Hearn once his Sky deal runs up. DAZN is in this for the long haul, but it was a little foolish for them to believe a UK promoter was going to be the guy that could unlock the US market for them. So far, every Hearn show in the US has been a complete flop at the box office. Boxing is very territorial for a reason.

And lol at everything before being a dud, literally been going a month before they got Canelo on DAZN.
Was still a month of duds. Sign ups were far lower than expected. Joshua didn't end up moving the needle at all. This Canelo deal is a lot of money they weren't planning on spending. He's such a big star that they really don't need Matchroom USA anymore. It's not unreasonable to believe DAZN will want out of the Matchroom USA deal in two years or want to restructure it if Hearn fails to land any major US stars.

All of DAZN cards put on by Hearn so far have been garbage. Remember when people were bashing Haymon and PBC for putting on too many cards that didn't have a lot of meaningful fights but now they're all praising Hearn and Arum for putting on all these cards. All these cards on ESPN and DAZN yet I've only tuned in to maybe 3 or 4. Tuned in to the DAZN fights and was bored by the weak fights and turned it off. SAme thing with some of the ESPN cards, ONly cards I actually tuned in to was the Crawford/Benavidez and the Ramirez/Orozco. Even those got a little boring with the commercial and ESPN presentation.
