  • Comments Thread For: Bellew: With Usyk I'm Going To Shock The World for Third Time

Former cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew (30-2-1, 20 KOs) has once again promised to upset the odds. Last March, Bellew moved up to the heavyweight division, as a major underdog, and shocked everyone by stopping overwhelming favorite David Haye in eleven rounds.

I like Tony and I'm sure he believes what he's saying, but the only people who he shocked in beating Haye were those who hadn't figured out that David hadn't been serious about boxing for years - ain't really something you can do part time at the top level. In Usyk he's facing a guy who is technically a level above and in his absolute prime, whilst Bellew himself is also on the downslope. Slim's out of town, as they say.

Wasn't much of a shock the second time round with Haye.

I was surprised when he got hit clean by Haye and was still there, last thing to go is the punch they say so he can obviously take a ****. Usyk can't punch much anyway so this should go the rounds, points win to Usyk would be the logical bet.

Won a coupla hundred quid on Bellew in the first fight, but the odds were obviously much shorter second time round. Haye's a playboy not a boxer... has been for years. He was a fantastic athlete in his prime, but that was a long time ago.

It's because Bellew is flexible and was moving backwards.... he knows how to ride shots and Haye was telegraphing everything. When he got dropped by Makabu he was standing square footed.... so he didn't take anything clean from Haye (that I seen)

I just hope Bellew gets home safe to his wife and kids.

I wish I bet on it too. When I heard he sold his gym and launched his 'comeback' fighting those bums thinking he was going to cash out against AJ I knew he wasn't serious. Bellew literally derailed those plans and sent him into retirement.

I like Tony but it’s pretty obvious that he needs to be dramatic and needs to make this fight sound ten times harder for himself in order to get himself up for it.

Usyk is brilliant, we all know that, but since when was he some formidable monster that everyone ran away from? Usyk’s current recognition of dominance is fresh from a tournament that’s only just finished. Bellew just needs to sound and make himself feel more of an underdog.

Like I said I like Tony but it isn’t half draining to hear him constantly say the same over dramatic things over and over again.
