Comments Thread For: Fielding: If I Beat Canelo at MSG - I'll Be The New Face of Boxing!

When Rocky Fielding enters Madison Square Garden on Dec. 15, it won't be his first time in the big arena when he faces Canelo Alvarez. The WBA "regular" super middleweight champion will put his belt on the line and be a hefty underdog against what even Fielding calls "an elite fighter ... the face of boxing ... a superstar."

All due and respect for Fielding if he beats Canelo.
But no. It ain't that easy. It takes a major fanbase and that little extra to be The Face of boxing.

And for the record there is a dispute who is "the face of boxing".
    Joshua or Canelo.

Yeah, no. It's lose lose for you.

Beating a small middleweight does nothing for you.

No dispute, Canelo is clearly the face of the sport. The $365 mil contract solidified it, no one is bigger than King Canelo.

Smith vs canelo would be a top scrap

I don't think fielding has much of a chance but you never know

Still a great pay day for him win or lose

Doubt it, outside of Britain is hard to find anyone who’s heard of Joshua. All that momentum AJ had after beating Klitschko has long disappeared, his refusal to fight Wilder has diminished his star power at least in the states. While Canelo popularity has only risen since he dethroned the bogeyman of the middleweight division in GGG. Shoot even Hearn fighters call Canelo the face of the sport before their own stablemate Joshua.
