Gervonta Davis and Canelo at age 23

    Some perspective:

Gervonta Davis is considered a baby at this stage of his career. At 23 years old, he's way too green to fight the big dogs in their late 20's and early 30's. He was or is a champion, as was Canelo at that young age, but being a champion in boxing- in a sport with heavy belt saturation, and fighting the elite of the elite is a different story.

He would probably get embarrassed. Yet, this is the same age Canelo and his team decided to get in the ring with an extremely experienced Mayweather. What were they thinking?

Canelo's corner got caught up in Canelo's potential and let him down by allowing him to take that fight.

****** comparison. Canelo started boxing professional at age 15. He’s been a pro for 14 yrs

Tank Davis isnt green. Hes already fought for championships. The difference between the two is that Canelo is a far superior boxer than Gervonta is. And I mean FAR superior.

Also, there isnt a champ in his weight category or someone close that's near or close to the end of their career with a big name. What kind of names are there between 126-135 that fit this criteria? Zero. The only two names he could pull is Lomachenko or Mikey Garcia but they are in their primes and not likely to fight anytime soon. (Not to mention those two already beat anyone worth mentioning)

Canelo tried to cherry pick floyd and use his youth as a weapon. Younger boxers are generally faster and have better reflexes no? Floyd was 36 if I recall at the time and in his twilight years.

          Now doesnt that sound familiar?

There's a difference. Canelo had been pro since he was 15 years old and had over 40 fights. Saying that, I'd make the Lomachenko fight at 130 if I was Mayweather's people in 2019. I don't think he will get embarrassed and will hold his own and don't think he gets stopped either. Davis probably loses but it is a fight that can make him better.

              Oh right on.

So Gervonta didn't have any amateur fights? He just decided to be a pro and won his first fight?

              But it was amateurs doe!!

Agreed. Young bucks will look decent, put up a fight, but probably lose.

                That's my point.

As much as I love Tank, Canelo is simply on another level as a boxing talent.
