  • Think Mayweather can't go broke? Think again...

Mayweather is looking to get back in the ring. Soon. Because he likes getting hit on the head? Because he likes the grind?

No, because the well is starting to dry up. A fool and his money are soon parted.

Think it's impossible to blow through 100's of millions? Think again, here are some examples.

Tyson making $685 million, had to get back in the ring until he physically couldn't anymore.

Evander Holyfield also had extravagant spending- look what happened. Made $285 million, now worth 500k as of 2016. That's what anyone owning a home in America is worth these days.

And this is an older article, but very relevant to the topic showing other fighters that spent all their millions. Riddick Bowe lost his $50 million.

Would anyone leave 100 mil on the table? Even if you're a billionaire you'd still take another 100 mil if you can. You don't leave money on the table.

floyd wont go broke and im not even a fan of his.

he made enough money, in order for him to go broke he has to get into some crazy legal problems where he has to spend all his money for lawyers, etc. and this has to happen occasionally in order for him to go broke.

He retired because he thought 600 million was enough. He thought he could live like a king; bugattis, jets, houses, all the latest, forever.

He's finding out his extravagant lifestyle and addiction to gambling takes a monstrous amount of money to maintain. He can't go back. He's living like a king, so long as his millions are available.

It's akin to people living paycheck to paycheck. They live like kings on Friday, once it's payday and can't help themselves. Money is flowing, let's go clubbing, let's go to dinner, let's get some fresh clothes and those new shoes.

How are they living on Thursday, a day before payday? Like bums, counting down until their bank accounts get replenished lol

Why are you so sure of this? It almost seems like you want this to happen... Time is running out for Floyd to still be able to do this (come back for a lucrative low risk fight) so as long as he's capable and the opportunity arises, he will probably always consider returning to the ring.

Anything is possible, and I guess he could lose all his money, however, let's remember it took smarts for him to get his hands on the amount of money he has, I doubt he will all of a sudden forget about how much money he has and overspend. It seems unlikely...

I agree, it's hard to imagine someone with that much money going broke but the income he needs to maintain his lifestyle can only be gained by fighting.

I was watching a recent interview of his and he was talking about a watch he was wearing that was 18 million! a fucking watch not even a mansion.

He only has known boxing all his life and seemingly doesn't drink or do drugs so that rush of the big event and obsessive training has been his fix all these years. I imagine he gambles stupid amounts since retirement since he was already quite hardcore with the gambling when he was active. Plus all the other things he spends lavishly on.

Sadly it seems like he's falling into the trap of most greats, coming back too many times. He's a very wealthy man but he ain't no Jeff Bezos.
