Canelo Alvarez is an active legend

THIS. With each year the loss becomes less relevant and when his career is over will be viewed like Hopkins loss to Roy Jones. Nobody will care because Hopkins kept winning and became so much better a fighter after that fight and achieved so much greatness. Nobody will view that version of Canelo at 152 as anywhere near his prime when the book closes on his career. And GGG got his face broke and his own trainer told him to his face he didn't win the fight LMAO

Yup so many fighters look at Broner he had every advantage was supposed to be the next Floyd if he was a better fighter he could easily be in Canelo's position right now and even with all these horrible losses he still get's another shot landing the Pacquiao fight. lol Look at Frankie Gomez he had the dream team promoter and trainer and phuked his career up before it really took off. And you look at a guy like Pacquaio who had no advantages as a young fighter lands a last minute replacement on a Oscar De La Hoya PPV undercard. Upsets and knocks out the champ and his career skyrockets after that 1 opportunity.Oh no, absolutely... you can't, as they say, polish a turd. Maybe you were mistaking my post for some kind of pop at Canelo, but that was absolutely not my intent. Canelo has had the ability to take full advantage of the opportunities presented to him and deserves a huge amount of credit... it's just something I reflect on that not every fighter gets the same opportunities. I sometimes wonder how many great talents disappeared without a trace because they were never spotted, or their girl got pregnant and they had to go on the 9 - 5 or their manager screwed them over or whatever.Last edited by bigdunny1; 10-22-2018, 01:13 PM.Comment

Canelo fought GGG twice in Canelo loving Vegas which is basically Canelo's home town on a Goldenboy promotion. fight 1 was a draw and fight 2 Canelo won a split decision by the narrowest possible margin.GGG and Canelo are clearly evenly matched and very close in fighting ability. Yet somehow you can declare Canelo is a living legend and say GGG is such a poor fighter that you picked Vanes to knock him out. You say if he retired today Canelo would be a first ballot hall of famer and that's true. If GGG retired today he would also be a first ballot hall of famer. But only the great Julia Slobberts gets to decide which boxer is a living legend and which boxer is a POS. When it comes to boxing you have the knowledge, intelligence and logic of a snail.Comment

HOF lock
ATG- I would say yes, already, but it's still arguable. His win over GGG seals his place in this category imo. GGG was this beast of a fighter that no one dared face or could last 12 rounds against. Canelo made him look rudimentary.
IF he beats Fielding for the strap at 168 and defends it or unifies with another champ, takes Benavidez or Zurdo's title for example and also takes out 3 or 4 of the current threats at 160 right now he'll be an ATG LOCK.
Road to ATG'ness.
Beat Fielding- defend it and or unify against another 168 lb champ.
Beat Charlo, Andrade, Saunders, Lemiux. Beats GGG one more time, in more convincing fashion. That would seal it no question. Would leave no doubt.
Would probably be up there in the top 5 all time greatest Mexican boxers ever.Last edited by Lion81; 10-22-2018, 02:29 PM.Comment

It's not always obvious who means **** and who's joking - the fact that I know individual posters' styles and stances probably means I spend waaay too much time on here.
As to why posters spend time hating on fighters in a sport we're all supposed to be fans of? I have no idea man - I don't really think it's actually much to do with fighters, it's just that some dudes like arguing and **** escalates - ragging on a guys' fighter is just a way of getting under his skin. It's all tit for tat juvenile ****, but it's not like some of the GGG fans don't do the same, so what you supposed to do?Comment
