Oh I didn't watch the fight I was out. But maybe he changed trainers ... but he was talking recently about how strong Errol hits.

Interesting & thats good. Brant bout to come into some money I feel like. Good for him.

And randomly, I hope that wouldn't have happened. That means boxing would be 70% on a stream for a fee with the other 30% on cable and premium television for a fee.
People keep talking about this like its a problem, but boxing has been a paid sport forever. You had to pay for HBO. You still gotta pay for Showtime. You gotta pay for basic cable to watch much of the alleged "free fights" & who the f#ck is watching TV with an antenna anyway for the basic channels for that to realllllly be free either. The biggest fights are on PPV where you gotta pay. The biggest fights used to be on closed circuit (where you had to pay) & way way back the biggest fights used to be shown at theaters after the fact (where you had to pay).

The reality is boxing has mostly been a pay to watch sport. To be a boxing fan you've always had to have a lil extra money in your pocket.

Didn't know that. I was thinking good for Brant along with Derrick James when I heard Brant won last night. False positive vibes for James I guess.

Although its not like its uncommon for a trainer switch to happen after an L, but James seems like a highly competent & top guy to have in your corner even if you took a L in your first step up fight.

Well when in the past few years we've been getting matches on free TV for that to then go all to streaming is a major change.

I didn't grow up watching boxing I grew up watching basketball on NBC and the local team. We had just cableg growing up so I could see the TBS and TBT matchups. So I had NO access to boxing growing up.

I didn't get premium TV til later on. I think after I graduated High school. I moved and on my own. That's when I migrated to boxing.

I didn't purchase HBO and SHO for boxing they just happened to show boxing on those networks.

I don't even remember what I was replying too lol.

I just know Boxing is not talked about as much as the other sports unless Mayweather is fighting.

Getting it on Reg TV is a start. Keeping it on cable and premium is okay too. Moving to a steamable app when none of the other sports are there ... uh it'll take a while to catch on.

PBC got some casuals & mainstream sports fans watching more boxing I'd agree with that, but there was never THAT strong of a trend towards "free TV" fight. Most of the biggest fights were on HBO or Showtime still.

Thats always been a problem since HBO become the king of boxing. I was lucky we had it decent when I was a kid & we had HBO (no Showtime so I was late to Chavez Jr, think the first Chavez Sr fight I saw was the Taylor fight & my first impression of Chavez was he shoulda lost that night & he wasn't THAT good lol). I don't know how you fix that doe. The money doesn't seem to be there to make the biggest fights on pure advertising money. The biggest fights have almost always been reduced to paying for them.

Sh^t ain't that the truth. But ultimately I think it goes beyond access. I think boxing is overly complicated with all these belts, rankings that don't sense, top guys not fighting top guys as much as other top athletes/team play each other in other sports & this small business mom & pop type business model with promoters having too much power in boxers careers.

I love boxing & the bs structure of boxing frustrates me so much I've turned cynical about the whole rankings/title belt/ABC hierarchy. And I think most cats look at boxing & see two guys being undefeated "world" champions & think thats f#cking ******ed as most reasonable mfers would cuz it don't make no sense.

Everything is going to be going to streaming sooner or later doe I predict. Maybe like the super bowl will be among the last things to flip over, but thats where its heading. The thing people don't mention with streaming is its potential to be customizable by the viewer which you can't do with broadcasted events. Thats really the reason things will flip over. You could in theory make a whole event with your preferred POV for the whole fight, cut out noises you don't wanna hear, the platform could hire multiple commentary teams (serious guys, funny guys, different languages, female friendly, w/e) & so much more that its probably a whole rabbit hole of a subject to go down.

Other sports will be on streams (they already are, but that's one if 2 options not the only option.)

Once that happens which won't be for another decade IMO.

Yea, but the reality is if these fights weren't on streaming they wouldn't be on anyway. So me as a boxing fan is like sign me up. And casuals aren't gonna be watching 95% of this sh^t even when they are watching.

To me the best part of DAZN & ESPN+ is they are showing all the fights basically. Boxing hasn't even been showing its whole product to fans EVER like most sports do. The UFC even allows you to watch all the undercard fights by one means or another. Boxing is slow to everything doe. But casuals aren't EVER gonna be watching the 9th fight from the main event so to me DAZN isn't even about casual fans yet & like you are saying it won't be til they got more casual sports there.

Randomly one of the issues with boxing fans even talking about DAZN is they don't even acknowledge this isn't a boxing platform realllllllly. Its a sports platform that just so happens to only have access to boxing for the most part right now.
