Lets hope so! The Netflix style subscription service model is much better than PPV in my opinion.

WWE has their streaming service for 9.99 and still throw PPV...same with UFC.

Bars will suffer because of DAZN unless they use a HDMI cable and connect their laptops to the TV at the bar.

This deal have the potential of saving boxing fans billions if we consider that canelo ppv draw was 2 million max at $85 per fight over 10 fights. And you know what? Thoes billions are better in our pockets than the pockets of the ppv billionaires

'Hey America, don't forget about Matchroom USA! We have AJ!' Hearn trying to remain relevant in the DAZN universe and hopefully get that six year extension in a couple years. Not looking good so far. No one in the States cares about AJ at the moment and the Hearns continue to insist on putting on garbage ass cards, like the one in Chicago. I'm guessing the decision makers at DAZN aren't impressed so far.

However, 11 fights is a long ass time in boxing and while Canelo is really good but does he really have the kind of size, athleticism and determination to keep going for the whole length of the deal.

It is like any long term spots deal of a guy in their late 20's, they are worth it at the moment but what about toward the end of the deal?

He’s got 50 fights in, I don’t think discipline is going to be an issue. If he loses it’ll be because the person he lost to was better or just too big, not for a lack if preparation, etc.

His name and following is too strong to go away at this stage. He’d need to lose 5-6 times which seems unlikely. He’s by far the most skilled in his respective weight class and outside of a few stylistic/size disadvantages, he’s the favorite against everyone outside of maybe GGG at a 50/50 type. That’s against the top guys and he’ll likely not be fighting the best guy every time out. No one does.

Lets say he beats Rocky, goes back down and fights whoever and loses.. youre looking at potentially a trilogy there. If he loses to an inhouse guy or has a terrific fight and has a trilogy, DAZN benefits. They have another player who competed with Canelo. They have an easily sellable fight. They get to promote AJ’’s next fights, etc etc. alternate big fight and two lessers, etc. having AJ as well is going to allow them to have at *least* two massive events a year if they go one big fight, one soft touch, etc etc.

Whether Canelo comes out of this deal undefeated isnt the main thing. Its having Canelo right now that is. 2 fights a year for 5 years is a nice easy pace that the stars tend to fight at and we’re lucky to get 3 fights out of them per year. Hell, he could take a year off and do 3 fights the next year, and three fights two years later and its still fine. Everyone wins

"They arent looking to make a profit on canelo its an investment to get other fighters on board, and an initial wave of subscribers, which it will. Theyve now got the two biggest stars in boxing on board."

lolol...the same guys saying this were saying how dumb it was for showtime to give floyd all that money....

I am sure there will be a clause in the contract for such an event.

(Its not far fetched at all to expect that either.. )
They can move to espn app, there by giving espn a reason to up their app cost to $10 just like dazn.
Apps are here to stay folks and their subscriptions modles are more accessible and less costly to consumers, not to mention you can literally watch streaming app content anywhere any place with wifi and reception.
