  • If you are US fighter what's the point in signing with Hearn now?

The entire point of Hearn luring and signing US fighters was that he had access to all these dates and money from DAZN and was supposed to be the exclusive promoter on DAZN. Now we see that's not the case with Golden Boy and Canelo going around Hearn and signing their own deal with DAZN that has nothing to do with Hearn.

So if you are a US fighter why sign with Hearn? Golden Boy is a bigger and better promoter that already has US on lock and now has access to DAZN dates and money. Am I missing something here? How is this good for Hearn getting other US fighters to sign with him instead of just deal with DAZN or sign with Golden Boy who has a proven track record in the US Market?

And Canelo's not even a US fighter. So they're trying to lure US fighters with non-US fighters. I mean I guess that's a smart move but still.

Have you seen the Golden Boy stable lately? Aside from Canelo its pretty weak. They'res a reason why many of the GB cards recently have been in small casinos on ESPN2 or facebook. DAZN gave Oscar 10 dates. Hearn is guaranteed more dates than Golden Boy.

Hearn is good if you want to be protected and need a pimp when you're in a tight corner (see Whyte Ortiz).

Yea idk if this situation is helping Eddie out personally THAT much. Although I do suspect Eddie has subscriber deal so Canelo coming to DAZN is gonna help Eddie personally pocket more money I'd imagine.

Its good for DAZN doe. Now they got 2 notable boxing promoters on their platform & I'm assuming Oscar has some sorta solid budget to sign up new guys cuz idk that he's got 10 non-Canelo "high caliber cards" without signing some fresh meat. Is DAZN gonna be cool with some Ryan Garcia or Vergil Ortiz headlined card like Oscar was out selling on these lesser platforms? Idk I'd hope not.

Hearn will pay you more, promote you better and fight you more regularly. Canelo and GBP cards on DAZN just means more subscribers and eyes on the product. It's a massive boost for Hearn's attempts to attract fighters.

It's very noticeable though that there are zero details on the GBP deal outside of the Canelo figures. Makes you wonder what sort of rights fees were involved if there isn't even a peep about it.

The GB stable as a whole is pretty weak. I think DAZN just wanted Canelo and agreed to throw Oscar some dates in order to seal the deal. DAZN is in the content game though I guess and this Golden Boy deal means more content for DAZN.

I'm not really sure what Hearn's role is in DAZN, not sure if hes just a promoter or if hes like a Espinoza type aswell. See this video of Robert Garcia reacting to the news, you get the feeling Hearn is more involved in things then just a promoter, also sounds like Mikey is on his way to me
