I wonder if the upcoming Canelo vs Fielding fight played a role in this chess match. Did the positive response in the UK to this fight play a part in the negotiation or was the deal already sealed? Goodbye HBO. Hello DAZN.
That's very true. It's more about how DAZN wants to play against Showtime and ESPN than Hearn and De La Hoya.

I don't know much about the ins and outs of anything going on because they've been kind of secretive. We're only working with rumors from best I can tell. Rumors given to us by promoters. People whose job is to lie to us.

DAZN is clearly making waves. I don't know if that means Hearn or De La Hoya are really responsible for much of anything beyond being DAZN's puppets and spinning it, like all promoters do, into something that makes them appear to have some level of power.

See GB & Matchroom working together. Did not sign with Showtime cuz the Haymon fighters would have been making B.S excuses not to fight him.

Apparently DAZN is a small piece of a large privately held conglomerate owned by Len Blavtnik under the umbrella of Access Industries. They are into chemicals, technology, real estate as well as media and telecommunications, the DAZN piece is headquartered in England. Looks like there are DEEP pockets behind DAZN.

DAZN is a UK company, and they are very tight with Hearn and he's the exclusive content provider of boxing and head of boxing I believe for DAZN.

I imagine Oscar wanted a deal that allowed him to promote on DAZN and I think that makes sense for both. Eddie gets a platform that's a lot more credible with more fighters and shows, and he also doesn't have to do 24 shows a year in the U.S which I believe is too much for him.
If Eddie can't deliver Oscar will take his job.

Canelo got paid and that's great for him. I think it also means he isn't going to fight Charlo or any real opponents. Also how many subscribers would DAZN need to pay consistently per month to get their money back?

Wow massive deal for GBP. Only question is will DAZN expand their availability to your average cable subscriber?

To break even, they'll need Canelo to bring in 300,000 consistent subscribers.
