Now the longest-reigning world champion (counting only WBC, WBA and IBF) Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (62-2,32 KOs) impressively registered the most defenses in flyweight history as he scored a fourth round TKO over WBC #10 and WBC Continental Americas champion Everardo Morales (27-11-2, 19 KOs) on Friday at Siam Paragon Center in ****kok, Thailand.

This boxing event was a part of the celebration to honor the 60th anniversary of his Majesty the King Bhumipol Adulyadej’s accession to the throne and there were more than 5,000 attendees in the 6,000-seat M2 Hall.

The bout was very exciting from the opening bell as Wonjongkam wildly stalked Morales and weakened the Mexican with many tough bodyshots. In round two, Morales tried to counter the world champion by exchanging toe-to-toe, but there was no effect, moreover, he was sent to the canvas by a vicious left hook by the WBC king.

In round three, the Mexican’s situation looked worse as he was dropped with a sharp left hook again, furthermore, he suffered a serious cut on his right eyebrow. Finally in round four, the Thai hero speeded up his assault and displayed a one-sided attack that forced referee Bill Clancy to stop the bout at 0:55.

Wonjongkam, who captured the WBC crown by destroying “Eagle Eye” Malcolm Tunacao in the opening round on March 2, 2001, retained his crown for the fifteenth time. He has also recorded the quickest KO in flyweight championship history on April 19, 2002, destroying Japanese Daisuke Naito at 0:34 of the opening round.

The champion's target is now to defend his title more than twenty times and do it within the next year.

In other action, WBC#2 flyweight Panomroonglek Kratingdaenggym (14-0, 8 KOs) won a 119-109, 120-109, 120-108 unanimous decision over Filipino Orlan Enriquez to retain his WBC Asian Boxing Council (ABCO) flyweight title for the tenth time.

Also, Thai bantamweight champion Thepnimit Sor Chitpattana (11-1,5 KOs) won a 118-111, 118-110, 118-110 unanimous decision over Filipino Jun Eraham a.k.a. Cruz Baledo on his passport, to capture the vacant ABCO bantamweight title.

This event was promoted by Virat Vachirarattanawong of Petchyindee Boxing Promotion and supporting by famous Energy Drink Red Bull.

Man WONG PONG should be banned from boxing. His record shouldnt even count. He is fighting bums and is trying to keep his belt as long as he can. He is a bum just like his opposition. He has been KOing D class fighters. His name shouldnt even be mentioned in this forum. Hes a disgrace to the division. Arce and Darchinyan would KO this mofo. Couple months ago he fought someone with a 5-3-0 record. This is trully un****ingbelievable.

so by looking at simply records, you know he only fights bums... how do you know anything making bold statements like you are? Have you seen him fight before? How many fighters in Thailand do you know of? Which are good and which are bad? Enlighten me..... Looking up a guy on boxrec doesn't give you the right to make assumptions like you are..

It's like a guy in Thailand or Japan calling an American fighter a bum because he's only fighting other American fighters... Seriously, do you think Wonjongkam is the only good fighter in Thailand?

            Gilberto Keb Baas 26-12-1
            Isidro Balabat 5-3-0

Hey man, Wongjong = BIG ZERO

any real boxing fan knows that.

If he is going to prove he is a worthy Flyweight then he needs to pack his bags and get out of Thailand and fight some real names and unify his belts.

The Thai fans need to put pressure on Wongjong to do this and not be satisfied with him beating up C or D class fighters.

You want to be proud of your boy, have him fight IBF World Champion VIC DARCHINYAN who has called out Wongjong already and still hasnt recieved an answer.
