Comments Thread For: Joe Smith Promoter: We Expect Beterbiev Fight Next, Not Bivol

For the past month or so there was rampant speculation that Joe Smith would be challenging WBA light heavyweight titlist Dmitry Bivol on HBO in late November. As Previously reported on BoxingScene.com, it looks like Smith will still be fighting for a 175-pound belt but it will be against IBF titlist Artur Beterbiev.

People saw beterbiev get dropped and now think they have a chance. Beterbiev is still 1 lhw imo, the guys power is freakish and his boxing iq is underatted. 100% p4p hardest hitter

Smith against either Beterbiev or Bivol will make for a good fight while it lasts as, give the guy credit, Smith brings it.

Word on the street has Bivol vs Pascal.
Jean Pascal disputera un combat de championnat contre Dmitry Bivol, selon des informations obtenues par RDS.

Think Joe had better chance of finishing the fight on his feet against Bivol... but also more of a puncher's chance against Betterbiev. Both good fights.

Smith has shown to have more power than johnson, beterbiev is there to be hit so I'd give him a chance. And bivol beats them both

‘The winds of change’ is just another way of saying they like their chances against Beterbiev because after his fight with Johnson it’s a better risk.

It should be a good fight if it gets made, but I don’t see Smith coming out a winner.

At this stage of his career and costly promotional battles in the courts, Beterbiev needs to roll that dice in the next few years and secure a pay day - possibly a unification bout.

Red Combo Cyclone Bivol dissects and stops Bazooka Joe later but Bazook Joe knocks out Beast from the Soviet East Beterbiev after being dropped and hurt himself in a thriller war!

                    Both good fights
