Another Alabama lead-in game lol Let's be realistic. It's the same as trying to act like Spence got those 6 million views on his own during the Olympics. Nobody is buying this type of reporting. We now know that this lead in programming isnt driving people to the sport in isolation. Let's talk more about what's working and stop highlighting smoke and mirrors.

Mayweather is a different case, but yes Ortiz helped. Even Mayweather said that a black guy VS a Mexican/Chicano guy is always a big seller.Comment

Lmao exactly. Let’s put Jose Benavidez on a card by his self vs Jeff Horn in America on and watch 2k people show up.Comment

Great lead ins are always part of network tv when they can accomdate. Why do U think espn asked for lomachenko-Pedraza to be moved to 12/8 right after the Heisman ceremony? These tv execs know what they are doing. Just give props. The tv execs aren’t asking for Rances Barthelemy or Ray Beltran to headline these key slots after hignlead ins. They are asking for big names because they know people can just change the channel.Comment

Let me remind you that by Mayweather standard Ortiz, Guerrero, Maidana and specially Berto did not do good numbers, averaging 800K + but did not hit the million mark. Meaning wasn’t necessarily complete success.Comment

We shouldn’t even be talking about race anyway smh. Mexicans, Europeans, African Americans, Caucasian Americans Asians etc. all support boxing. There’s no data tracker that tracks race of viewers. It’s ****** to even be discussing it.Comment

True... why you think Mayweather only fought on Mexican holidays... cause he knows more Mexican invest in boxing during those daysComment

Yea, that definitely inflated the numbers. Still, espn has a major advantage. So many casuals watch Sportscenter and First Take and Around the Horn and PTI. If espn has a segment about a fight on every one of those shows, every day for the week before a fight, casuals will know about it. Very rarely did anything boxing (that wasn't Mayweather related) get any air time.
Now, they have a segment on a card they show. And as long as everyone on espn claims Bummed is #1 or #2 p4p, the casuals believe it. This should help boxing on other networks somewhat to, as espn now donates some time to boxing, even for the top guys not with TR.Comment
