Comments Thread For: Chavez: Canelo Deserves Fielding Fight, Lemieux Brings Nothing

The godfather of Mexican boxing, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., sees nothing wrong with Canelo Alvarez (50-1-2, 34 KOs) moving up to 168-pounds to pursue another world title. Last week, Canelo announced that he was moving up to super middleweight to challenge WBA "regular" champion Rocky Fielding (27-1, 15 KOs).

It would be hype if he was fighting Callum Smith.

Ok let's be real, does anyone expect Chavez to have a problem with Canelo fighting a bum? After 'beating" meldrick Taylor, Chavez fought a guy with a 5-3 record followed by a guy with a 4-3 record. After beating camacho he fought a guy with a 10-10 record. Compared to that, fielding may as well be a prime Roy Jones.

Fair point at least Rocky brings a belt to the table. The world saw Lamieux get completely wiped out by BJS. Of course Canelo will take the low risk High Reward fight duh.

I agree with Chavez having no problem with Canelo fighting Fielding. But no I would not expect Chavez to ever have a problem with Canelo fighting whoever he wants.
