What's the upside for him? I don't see why he'd even make the fight.

money. lots and lots of money. hearn has UK casuals wrapped around his finger.

i expect the wilder gfight to get made next year, but if it doesn't hearn will need new opponents for joshua, which is also a factor.

If Whyte wins a lot of Wilder fanboys will have to eat their words. A big win for Whyte over Ortiz would definitely shut them up.

Yeah, but he'd most likely be throwing away any interest in his Joshua-Whyte rematch

What would Whyte get out of it? Whyte picks his own fights not Hearn, he just works for Dillian.

Winner takes on Joshua in April. Cracking fight in itself but will build up the April fight even more!

A great back-up for the wilder plan (which I don’t think anyone thinks will happen in April now)

Whyte defeating Wilders best win makes Whyte vs Joshua much more lucrative and forces wilder to actually make the Joshua fight if he really wants to say he fought the best IF he gets passed Fury....IF !

it doesn't matter really bc Whyte vs Joshua will be far bigger then any fight Joshua can fight outside Wilder or Fury if Whyte derails Ortiz.

lol the jealousy is strong in this one.

whyte wants to stay active, and he and ortiz have been calling each other out. plus there's the whole secondary mandatory deal, and also the DM/text from wilder.

sometimes its just as simple as the promoter doing his job: making fights for a fighter.

Why did he make Parker v whyte where whyte was the underdog? Because whyte wants to fight the best guys out there so Hearn is prepared to facilitate that . I know a lot of your fighters and promoters don't have that mentality but we do
