Agustus is a very slick boxer with good defence and if he trains hard enough and doesnt play around in the fight I shouldnt see any reason why he coudn't outbox his way to a Unanimous decision. I would love to see this fight.
i totally agree. many people from UK will disagree regardless on who the opponent is. it is nothing more than blatantly supporting thier countryman - which is silly IMO.

ricky hatton is a great fighter, no doubt, but he is far from unbeatable. i am still wondering how he got away with some of the semi-dirty tactics he used against callazo. and i'm not even going into the topic of his fight with tszyu as it was in his own backyard. btw, the ref who worked the tszyu-hatton fight needs his license suspended indefinitely.

now, there is more to the augustus/hatton match up besides EA having an extremely difficult style to fight against. he really, really dislikes hatton for his unsportsman-like tactics against his good friend kostya tszyu. ever since that fight he has called out ricky. he said he would fight hatton for as low as $100,000. it might've been $50,000, i'm not exactly sure, but it was not a hell of a lot.

this is one reason why i feel augustus could beat hatton. he would be more motivated than he's ever been. and any "fan" of boxing knows that if augustus has enough motivation, he has the skills to beat any fighter in his weight class.

btw, i'm just dying for jay nady to ref one of hatton's fights. that should be a real eye opener for hatton. i would even pay a decent ppv price regardless of who he is fighting, as long as nady is reffing.

to all you brits, hatton fans, etc - don't hate. i think ricky is an extremely talented fighter. i just feel that he's gotten away with a lot of unnecessary rough-house tactics and don't really enjoy his style of fighting.

Augustus loses many fights, that's true, but most are lost due to judges not liking his clowning around in the ring.

Augustus has the skills to make Ricky Hatton look like an amateur. Ricky is a come-forward, grab-you-and-hit-you type fighter. Any stylish boxer (such as Luis Collazo, PBF, or Augustus) would make Ricky look bad. I had Ricky losing to Collazo and I think Augustus has more skills than Luis and would soundly beat Ricky. Ricky cannot box; Augustus has more boxing ability in my pinky than Ricky Hatton has in his whole body.

Do I think he'd KO Hatton? No, but he'd win a decision against him anywhere in the world except Manchester.

BTW, a well-trained Augustus (meaning an 8-week camp to prepare, not a last-minute sub) would beat any fighter at 140 pounds right now (including Cotto and Hatton) and most of the 147 pounders (except PBF and maybe Margarito).

while i agree that augustus has great skills and could make hatton look bad at times, there is no way he could win more then 3 rounds. Augustus has great heart and a good chin, so there would be no chance in a KO from hatton, but a UD would definetly occur. DEFINETLY.

And although augustus takes nearly all his fights at basically 2 weeks notice or less, he is always in good shape for his fights. He stays in great shape between fights. So every time he fights, hes at his best physically. A "well-trained" augustus would get beaten by any of the elite at 140-147.

Im a huge augustus fan, hes definetly one of my top 5 favorite fighters and prolly my favorite to watch, and i think he deserves a title shot. If he does go for it, he should pick a weaker opponent then hatton. hatton would man-handle Augustus in an easy 12 round UD.

As easy as it would be for hatton IMO, this would also be a really good fight that i would really enjoy watching. It would be hard for me to watch because i love both fighters, But ive been through many augustus losses before...

having said that,I think Augustus could put up a good fight but I dont see him winning,he legitimately lost to Ward.

That ward decision had possibly the worst scores i had ever seen. When i watched that fight i had it an even draw. i could have easily seen either fighter winning. But one scorecard was 98-90!!! Someone had Augustus winning only 3 rounds. thats pathetic. I though he won the middle 5 rounds CLEARLY

how many people thought hasim rahman would've beaten, much less KO'd lennox lewis? or how about douglas/tyson.

in boxing, nothing is "black" and "white". nothing is definite.

i agree, and I had EA winning that fight by a round. that was a great fight too, tons of action and in fighting, definitely worth watching. but apparently EA has been robbed and/or judged terribly throughout his whole career. judges just dont like the guy
