Comments Thread For: Devin Haney: I'm Knocking on The Doorstep of a World Title

Devin "The Dream" Haney (20-0, 13 KOs), is making noise in the lightweight division as the 19-year-old fighter is now ranked #8 by the WBA after his 10-round unanimous decision win over Juan Carlos Burgos (33-3-2, 21 KOs) last Friday night on ShoBox: The Next Generation, broadcast worldwide by Showtime.

Let him fight Gervanta Davis and Haney will have the "next superstar" words knocked right down his throat and out his a$$. He's gotten a little too high of the fumes of his own farts.

I was curious about this Haney project from the start. I've been a fan since that Menard performance. But idk who's door he wants to knock on....the Loma vs Pedraza winners or Mikey Garcia's?

Unless Pedraza wins through some freak occurrence and there's no rematch for some weird ass reason cuz I would like his chances vs him.

By the time Haney challenges for a belt Loma and Mikey will both be gone from the division. That I can guarantee.

After December 8th there will only be 2 champions in the LW division and I Haney doesn't have a chance vs either of them.

He said in an interview that we have to ask for it as fans & the fights will happen so if you want to see him with Mikey or lomo then I guess just say it through social media.

Sh^t Haney is a contender to me now. I don't think he's a indie top ten ranked guy, but he's a guy ranked highly by ABC Group(s) so to me he's not even a prospect anymore.

Who would you consider a "blue chip prospect" btw?

Sh^t man I wouldn't even throw him into either of those fights right now. If he wants them & fights them, win or lose, I'll have more respect for him just for being bold enough to make the leap towards greatness, but not unlike the Loma vs Tank talk awhile back I think its early for that fight. If guys wanna jump...jump, but I won't be mad as a fan if they don't.

I actually feel like if Haney can move down to 130 thats the move. Otherwise I think the move is to wait til Loma & Mikey start dropping some belts in the next 12 years. If they don't & Haney keeps improving then maybe its time to lean into a fight with one of them or moving up or down from there. Its just a big ask to throw a f#cking teenager in there with Loma or Garcia for his first title shot.

If i was a betting man i would put my money on someone like Oscar Valdez.

I just do not see it in Haney. I may be wrong but just do not see it ...at least not yet.
He needs to be brought along carefully.
