The silver title and interim world title from the WBC allow mandatory status and even then not always guaranteed.

Not complaining about this fight being ordered, just dont know what sort of precedent the WBC are trying to set with this.
I'll make it short: it goes to purse-bid. Look at other examples, Linares vs. Garcia, Stevenson vs. Kovalev, Prograis vs. Ramirez when they held the WBC ' Diamond' belt...its a known fact, hell even this article is substantiating what we already know.

The WBC has been making it up as they go with the Diamond belt. At first I thought it was just a ceremonial award, but then there was talks of Linares having to defend his before the Loma match....so I don't even know anymore.

Very solid fight, one I'd predict LSC will come out on top with. Seems like of the two, he just works harder than Jr. And Russell is just a part-timer anyway, IMO. Geez, get out there and do 2 fights a year at least. How much is that to ask? Don't be lazy.

It's kind of hard to believe this fight hasn't already happened.

I think Russell loses this fight. He looked shaky in his last fight against a guy he should have beat more convincingly. And Russell seems to fold with fighters that bring constant heat and pressure on him all night.

Just curious, but what fights do you think he folded in?

Russell got broken down a little against Diaz in some of those rounds especially as the fight went on. Although he won, he clearly had some trouble against Diaz. And he clearly got broken down against Lomo, who only had (2) fights at the time. Both Diaz and Lomo come forward. Russell doesn’t do that well against pressured fighters, and Cruz will come forward all night.
