They were the most popular boxers in their time and the general public thinks boxing is like most other sports where "most popular" also means greatest.
I remember I met this one kid who thought Arturo Gatti was the greatest non-heavyweight boxer EVER!

I would say the reason people bring up Ali and Tyson is because of the impact that both had on the sport.

In regards to your Ali couldn't punch....look at the Williams fight.

In regards to Tyson having no stamina...look at the Tucker and second Ruddock fight...and while you're at it, remember that Ruddock wasn't scared of Tyson and Tyson knew what to do.

I don't agree with everything you say but i know exactly what you're talking about, every time i tell my girl im gonna watch a fight she asks if its DLH, then if its tyson. even though i always tell her she doesnt know the guys, she's like, "maybe i do". hahahahaha. and she was right for the first time when DLH fought mayorga.

Yo, I don't mean to tell you how to handle your business and all that, but women (your girlfriend included) have no right to watch boxing or even TV for that matter. You need to lay down the law. I couldn't have that ****.

hahahaha, she doesn't watch it with me its just when she asks me what i'm doing, ill tell her im watching a fight.
but by you standards i probably should just tell her, "what the **** does it matter to you where i'm at" , right? hahahaha

oh yeah and whenever she hears about an event like a ufc ppv, she'll ask me if im gonna watch that fight even though i've explained several times i love boxing, and dislike that other ****.

You don't have to be that mean.
Just be like, "Don't you have woman things to take care of? As a woman, TV shouldn't concern you."
