I have very tight restrictions on using the word 'duck' ie only when an incumbent champion fails to fight a mandatory and it rankles to use it about one of my favourite fighters - although the situation was unusual. Yes, Derevyanchenko was both high risk (or at least a dangerous unknown quantity) and low reward, specially on short notice. I thought Golovkin should still have taken that fight, however, and in fact I've disliked the path his career has taken since he first started chasing the Canelo fights, although it's quite understandable when you consider the amount of money at stake. Hard to say I would have done different in his shoes, but still a disappointment from a fan perspective.
