No it has nothing to do with being a Brit. I am and I’m also a massive Callum Smith fan but winning this tournament doesn’t make him top 5 or even 10 p4p. The entrants in this tournament were considerably weaker than previous ones. Had all the top guys entered and he won then I’d agree

You're trying to compare the cruiserweight tournament which had all the best guys with all the belts to the smw which had 2 solid guy's who aren't even the best in the division. It's not as comparable as you'd like to believe.

In other cases the standard has been much higher. I think it’s fair to say smith needs to prove himself over a number of fights to be even considered near P4P.

about #30, the Supermiddle WBSS was pretty weak, only one champion involved, Benavidez, Ramirez and Uzcategui are the top guys in the division next to Smith and its generally not the strongest divison.

Are you seriously trying insinuate that Callum Smith's run is in any way comparable to what Usyk did?

                  Top 25’ish or top 20!

Groves is a decent win but let’s see how he does against Zurdo, UzCat, Coca Benavidez and Sweet Hands Plant!

He has a good chance, very technical and rangey, and goes to the body well!

He uses his reach very well, i like his chances but the top 168 guys are big for 168 as well!

I don't give a top p4p ranking for winning a tournament. There are 17 different weight classes. If each weight class had a tournament winner you would have to try to cram 17 boxers into the top 5. I just go by how good I think a boxer is for his pounds. Nationality and winning tournaments don't matter to me unless in winning the tournament he showed me he belongs near the top. Smith looks good to me but not good enough to make the top 10 pfp on my list. I think there are more than 10 boxers fighting today who are better for their weight class than he is. If others rank him higher that's their choice. It's all just opinion and not provable fact unless two boxers are in the same weight class and fight each other.

The Cruiserweight tournament was full of all the best guys apart from Gloawacki who’d already lost his title to Usyk. That tournament was far better than even the 2009-2011 Super Six and even Usyk’s acheivement has been ignored/not properly recognized so Smith winning a tournament that was a lot weaker than the Super Six pool doesn’t warran p4p.

He’s clearly an exceptional fighter though and if carries the momentum for the Groves win on then he can warrant p4p discussion. Until then let’s just relax a little.
