  • Comments Thread For: Vargas: If No GGG Trilogy, I'd Like Canelo vs. Charlo, Saunders

BoxingScene.com and other members of the media caught up with former two-division champion Jessie Vargas shortly after Canelo Alvarez won a majority decision over Gennady Golovkin at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. As he has done in recent years, the 29-year-old provided expert commentary for the HBO Spanish broadcast of the pay-per-view event.

Charlo won't fight top opponents for some time. This is the second time (allowing Canelo to fight Lemieux) he willingly gave up his position to fight for the WBC belt (1st time was allowing GGG to fight Canelo instead of him). D-chenko got GGG stripped to fight for the championship. That's what differentiates top fighters from barkers, who are just barking top names yet have no balls to really fight them. So typical for constant trash talkers like Charlo and other clowns.

Canelo and Golden Girl don't want that work.

Could have fought the Charlo's down at 154 but chose not to. Why would they do it at 160. Already complained about Saunders boxing too much.

They have enough of a stable to keep Canelo busy for the time being. David Lemieux is obviously next. Then you have bums like Jaime Mungia, Yamaguchi Falco and Gary O'Sullivan that they can keep feeding no-hopers so that the casual fans think they are threats.

I personally think the GGG fight would make too much sense for them not to do a third bout. Its risky sure. But its by far the biggest money fight and the longer they put it off the easier it gets.

Those are the facts, and you know it.
Charlo is interim champ, right? So how it is possible for Canelo or GGG to fight someone else instead of him?
Interim champs are usually financially compensated to allow champions to fight someone else. Charlo did it for free, two times. It's an official duck.

I foresee Canelo fighting Lemmy or Jacobs. I doubt he'd take on BJS

I doubt Saunders beats Andrade so its a mute point.

Funny how the Floyd haters (in particular Mexican fans) always said Floyd was cherry picking and ducking, but they don't say a word about Canelo.

Not going to play the race card either, but there are a lot of Brothers out there standing in line for the title shot and Canelo doesn't seem inclined to fight any of them. Jacobs, Charlo Andrade all deserve a shot (at the big money) because they have earned it. Bot golden fishnets never would put their cash cow in for that milking.

Like A-bull Sanchez said, black fights don't get title shots because they don't put on exciting fights. The win, but not in a fan-friendly style.
