Comments Thread For: Shields: Maybe Hammer Thinks I Don't Have Chin After Knockdown

Claressa Shields senses Christina Hammer might've gained a false sense of security after seeing Shields get knocked down in the first round of her last fight. Hanna Gabriels landed a right uppercut that floored Shields for the first time in Shields' short professional career just 2:12 into their middleweight title fight June 22 in Detroit. Shields quickly recovered and clearly out-boxed Gabriels to win a 10-round unanimous decision.

Hanna had some nice thick legs also that's what gave her a good foundation to land that uppercut

Shields has a tendency to swing wide with her punches and also stand and trade when she should be on the outside. That's probably what Hammer saw in that fight.

I really question Hammer's power. I don't think she has the strength to stop Shields or stamina to handle the pressure for 12

I don’t know if she has a glass chin, but I do think she can be outboxed by a fighter like Hammer who has more experience as a pro.

Shields handlers are making a HUGE mistake taking this fight.

Hammer will beat Shields..too technically sound. She's only missing the left hook, but everything else is spot on. Her uppercuts, the punch that dropped Shields in her last fight, are a thing of beauty. As a American, my money is on Hammer for the kill.

I can't wait to bet on this fight...the odds makers will make Shields the favorite, I'm going to make a killing.

For sure. Hammer will frustrate her and humiliate her.

All I know is it's giving womens boxing a profile , an opportunity for women to perform to a mass audience which they have been craving ( and deserve by the way) , but I don't see any female entrepreneurs and promoters investing their time and money to help female fighters breakthrough on a consistent basis because they know there is really no market in the mainstream, come on ladies help the men sell and believe in your gender to show women can fight and be worthy of more TV time. Do not expect men to do it on their own ..

Shields is a hype job. Hanna Gabriels beat her. That was a disgusting robbery.
