Dont know what "gifts" you're referring to, but Canelo is the peoples champ.

Fought Trout and Lara when nobody said he would.

    Made 152 for Floyd.

Fought Cotto at 155 (Cottos demand).

Beat rival Mexican JCC without even sitting down.

Fought Gennady as the A side...but let Gennady control the demands (Gennady is a prima donna)...
    - Gennady picked Canelos gloves
    - Abel wrapped Canelos hands
    - Canelo joined WBC365
    - Ca$h let Abel/Gennady pick the judges
    - Canelo even let Abel touch his Mexican meat - really going above and beyond

Basically went 14-10 against Gennady over 24 rounds...leaving him like this:

The only drawback for Ca$hnelo is that he doesnt fight more often and he is too handsome for most people to handle...double-edged sword really :-/

Trinidad never did english interviews and hes a US citizen where as Canelo is mexican.

Also Morales and Barrera could speak fluent english but always did interviews via a translator. I dont think it makes that big of a deal, Canelo is already a star. Yeah sure he wont be a household name but what boxer is really these days. Boxing just isnt that big.

They running the show already and have their own production crews and hire announcers for the international broadcast so why not just cut HBO out they don't need the middle man. HBO brings very little to the table and has no budget.
Cause at the same time Oscar isn't just thinking about Canelo. He's also thinking about the other fighters in his stable so you know that whoever ends up getting Canelo is also gonna end up showcasing other fighters in the Golden Boy stable.
Oscar is just thinking ahead and he should. That's what any man running his own business should...

I really don't think people in the US really give a damn about the language barrier... I think you either like Canelo or you don't. You either like what he brings to the ring and his style of boxing or you don't...
Maybe I'm wrong but this is boxing, I don't think Canelo not speaking English has anything to do with Canelo being liked or not...

I think Triple g would be like a lost puppy and follow Canelo wherever he goes the way he has been for the past three years cause we all know he wants the third Canelo payday...

Seems like NY might be a better option. Might be harder to get a lot of people to fly out to Vegas so close to Christmas.

Randomly idk why they don't try to do that end of the year fighting sh^t in the US like they do in Asian countries. New Years is a fun holiday people might be more into traveling for. Although its still obviously close to Christmas so that might still be a problem. Idk just thinking out loud.

But yea agree with Bronx this should tell us if HBO is in boxing still or not real quick. Thats a super quick turnaround for Canelo & I'm surprised he's doing it so if he's got a deal this week or next week then obviously HBO is gonna be in boxing for some time in the future & if they are talking to ESPN or DAZN or Showtime or whoever & throwing that out into the ether more HBO could be done or the face of boxing on HBO will be drastically changing cuz Canelo & GGG were there poster boys along with Kovalov for the last several years now.

And I'd be super surprised if they fight BJS or Jacobs, who's names are mentioned, since they both got fights a lot closer to this Dec. 15 date. That'd be a super mfing quick turnaround for them. Seems like it'd be all about David L or Charlo who I don't believe neither got anything scheduled currently & obviously David L came out quick & in good shape with the Spike fight so he should definitely be ready Dec. 15 if given an opportunity. And I'd say its probably 90/10 David's way on getting that fight & 10% might be optimistic for Charlo, but maybe I'll be surprised....hopefully I'll be surprised cuz I think Charlo is a much more interesting fight despite having some questions on Charlo. The thing is the while I got less questions about David L, I feel like he's been proven to be much more limited already than Charlo who's limitations are more up in the air still & its much more interesting to discover limitations in a fighter than to know they already exist obviously.

And think this will determine if HBO wants to stay in boxing. If this deal falls apart, you can kiss HBO boxing good bye!

espn is wack. They hardly cover boxing, they are bias & they make you pay for an app just to watch boxing. F that! Showtime would show Nelo more love & more money.
