Why not? Pretty sure Lemieux is one of his mandatories now. And he just fought Golovkin back to back. A fight against Lemieux in December is fine. If he planned that fight for May? Then a bit disappointing for sure.

Sure, but I rather him fight Lemieux in December and then a top level fighter in May. Supposedly HBO still believes they have rights to one more Canelo fight that has to air on non-PPV. Personally? Kind of hard for me to see. For one, he suffered a cut that may or not heal in time, and two it would be hard for him to turn around after making $40-50 million to fight for substantially less on regular HBO.

And again, at least he gets the Lemieux mandatory out of the way and hopefully sets up the Charlo fight for May.

Heck yeah that'll be dope if Canelo fought 12/15... Charlo would be my first choice and that's a no doubt ppv fight. Or he can have a scrap with lemieux, sulecki, hurd, and maybe even culcay if he wins his fight... Lara would also make sense. The rest of the mw top dogs are busy and likely won't be available for that date.
