GGG clearly won the fight by 3rds at least. He fought very smart and used his technique. Before the 12th round I tought canelo needs a KO to win the fight.

In this fight Canelo brought the fight to GGG and actually fought "Mexican style".
I thought Kovalev losing his belts was a robbery (there was another one on the same card to another JayZ fighter)
This fight Canelo did more damage than GGG and can make a clear case imo for winning the fight.
I haven't voted yet, will need to sit down and properly watch the fight with no one around me but GGG talked mad **** about Nelo not being willing to 'fight' him and in terms of the perception Canelo bossed this fight far more than GGG which may have influenced the judges.
Vlad, please rate this fight compared to Kova/Ward 1 in germt of a champion being stooged of their belts.
Who do you think was stooged more, GGG or Kovalev?
Did Canelo come closer than Ward at beating his opponent? He absolutely did. Canelo delivered a beautiful performance. But in both cases neither fighter had done enough to dethrone the champ.
In my opinion, the decision is equally garbage in both cases. Both guys lost by 1 point in a "close fight" therefore it cannot be a robbery, as some claim. But it was absolute robbery in both cases. It does not matter if it's by 1 or 10 points, what matters is that both champs lost THREE world title belts on garbage decisions in fights which they did not lose.
I also don't get the narrative where Canelo made GGG back away in this fight. Canelo kept his ground, but so did GGG. Both fighters spent 90% of the fight circling each other near the center of the ring, around the Tecate logo.
I would also recommend you rewatch the fight on mute.

33.81% percent voted that the winner didn't deserve the win. Don't know if it was the biggest robbery in a championship fight but a respectable screw job none the less. It's definitely going on to a list of unjust decisions if someone gets around to writing one.Last edited by TonyGe; 09-18-2018, 12:36 PM.
