Wright: "50-50 Split For Taylor Rematch"

Winky Wright, initially unwilling to take part in a rematch with middleweight champion Jermain Taylor, may be willing to stage a rematch if the financial terms are agreed upon. Wright, who took the short-end of a 55-45 split to make the fight with Taylor, told The Tampa Tribune he wants a 50-50 split if a rematch is put together. [details]

forget winky, all these years this ******* talks **** about not fighting big names, about getting robbed, about not getting paid and now he's complaining of a 50-45 split, get the hell out of here with that bs, let winky do his thing and taylor does his thing. Taylor dont' need winky, let winky go to europe and face calzaghe.

heres winky who on espn2 said delahoya is calling out a smaller fighter in mayweather and next thing i hear is that winky is now calling out mayweather, go to europe, this guy has no class.

I know one poster (*cough Taylor fan*) that doesn't want Taylor to fight Wright again.....

What does having "no class" have to do with calling out top fighters... is he the only one doing this or something?? Please, please stop being such a hater.. it's really getting old.

Nopes not 50/50. He is still the challenger so nothing has changed.

Restless, you are wrong, plain and simple. Wright knocked on DLH for calling out Floyd, then proceeded to call out Floyd himself. That's a ***** move, period. You know it. Don't try to excuse it. k thks bye.

Oh, and I agree with Wright. 50-50 is fair.

50/50 is absolutely fair considering they had a draw, which means they were "equal" (at least, according to the judges). I know Taylor is the "champ" still, so maybe he gets more percentage of PPV buys and/or the gate, but before that the purse should be split.

If Taylor really wants to fight anyone/everyone, he should agree to this without hesitation. He himself knows he was lucky to get that draw and surely wants to redeem himself. What else is there for him out there? He's not moving up to fight Calzaghe and there's no money in fights with Abraham/Sturm.

Also, it's good to see DiBella make sense for once about Taylor. Listening to him, he would have you believe Taylor destroyed Hopkins twice (ha!), but at least here he is acknowledging it was a tough fight for Taylor and that he needs to prove himself champion by rematching and defeating Winky.

Even going so far as to mention scrapping the Little Rock fight for a rematch is VERY encouraging, but it makes you wonder, have they surveyed the list of potential opponents for that fight and not found anyone?

They can't get the Abraham/Miranda winner since they don't fight until August and wouldn't be ready until January. They probably don't want Sturm since he blew them off before and surely would again for a Little Rock fight (again, I actually don't blame them for this--Sturm had his shot). Kassim Ouma, who almost got the shot Sturm turned down before the Winky fight came to fruition, is also fighting August 5 and is involved in a 154 lb. eliminator against Powell (another DiBella fighter). Sergio Mora I guess would be a possibility, but the Contender people wouldn't lead him to slaughter at this point. And you know young guns like Pavlik and Duddy are out of the question. There's no other choice but Sam freakin' Soliman, and you know the Taylor camp would get all kinds of crap for fighting Winky's "leftovers".

On the other hand, Winky has a tiny glimmering hope for a Mayweather fight, but that probably won't happen, and who knows if he's serious about Calzaghe. Other than that, he has no options either...

So, let's hope this gets made a.s.a.p.
