Joshua's record doesn't make him number one if it doesn't include the one champion that existed when Fury left. The one champion he avoided fighting as an up-and-comer (understandably), and the one champion he is still not ready to face after winning Fury's belts. As he himself said, he won't be rushed to fight Wilder and it looks like his fans can enjoy more confidence-building fights with Povetkin, Whyte and Pulev until he IS ready.

Not only is he not the #1 heavyweight in the world, he might not even be the 3rd best heavyweight in the world. Maybe if he beats Povetkin he can claim that #3 spot. Wilder has held his title longer than Joshua and the lineal champ Fury beat Klitschko before Joshua did. Plus, he keeps hiding behind the skirt of his promoter ducking Wilder. They asked for 50 million to come to the US to fight Wilder; when his team put the $ on the table they changed their mind. Tired of him and his camp's BS!

nope, Klitschko was undefeated, and there were not the same questions marks over his current form/state, that there were when Joshua lined him up
btw, Klitschko did not have Fury in big trouble, like he had Joshua

He better be worried about Povetkin and tell those reporters that he is just focusing on the fight! I think AJ can spark Povetkin but Povetkin has more experience so that makes him a little bit of a threat. AJ has done well so far but he beat Charles Martin for his first belt (Martin got beat by Kownacki so there's that), AJ beat Klitschko which was an entertaining fight but Fury had just schooled Klitschko nearly two years prior with little damage taken. And he beat Joseph Parker who coincidentally lost to Dillian Whyte lol So as long as critics look at those things he's always gonna have something to prove. He needs to take out the Wilder/Fury winner to erase any doubt.
