I dunno. Maybe because he fought guys like Benitez, Duran, Hearns and Hagler? He like, had real fights?

    And *******, no doubt.

Which Spence assuredly is not doing.

Floyd fought real fights as well and stayed on top much longer because he kept his body healthy..Leonard abused himself and cheated his career

        Let's put this in perspective.

Leonard is an extreme case of substance abuser. Point being, even he was...a breathtakingly great competitor. His resume is astoundingly good, though he burned out early by today's standards, yep.

Look at Duran, look at Oscar, look at a bunch of old school guys. They didn't necessarily hold to the "straight and narrow" between fights.

Carlos Monzon smoked cigarettes, for chrissakes.

Now compare this to Spence, who in all probability will never be as great -- drinking or not -- as any of these fighters. (Maybe he will be, but....)

He had alcohol (how much?) with his buds on a special occasion. Hopefully he doesn't indulge very often, even between fights.

But I'm guessing he'll be okay.

I'll let you return to your regularly scheduled gasping and harrumphing.

so what, most people think leonard had a better career than mayweather. if leonard had some more fun on top of it than good for him. mayweateher going to jail for beating up a woman is hardly a model example for young fighters either.

Honestly, I wouldn't doubt if Spence drinks between fights on his own will. We can't really blame Broner for it. For a guy like Spence who blows up in weight between fights, there's no doubt in my mind that he drinks from time to time.

Who knows though. To me, it seems like everybody (the Charlos, Tank, Broner) actually follow him and look to him to be the more disciplined between the five of them.

To be fair I've never seen the Charlos look like they put on a significant amount of weight in between fights.

I don't get why people say he was drunk. Is it because of his eyes? His eyes always look like that.

Is it because of that long drawl when he talks? He always talks like that though.

How do you guys know he was drunk?

once again my point is how much better would they have been without it...Oscar burned out at what 35?? as was Monzon

He had one fun night. He'll be ok. Everybody was there to celebrate the new Showtime & Fox deal. People have to unwind. And Spence doesn't seem like the type that's easily influenced. I remember everybody saying Easter Jr shouldn't hang with Broner. They've been together for years and you never seen him get in trouble.
