    Brook Vs Spence

Do you guys think the Brook who beat Porter (who wasn't busted up by GGG and having to go from 160 back to 147) would have beaten that Spence he fought?

I know Porter and Spence aren't the same, but that Brook I thought did really well against Porter.

its hard to say and an impossible question. i thought brook was outboxing spence before he slowed down towards the end but obviously that could have been due to spences body work or brooks well documented issues regarding making weight. plus he did come down two weights and just suffered a bad injury against ggg which can affect a fighters mentality. saying that i tipped brook to win so i give spence a lot of credit but i dont think that win in isolation is enough to warrant the standing spence seems to have gained, ive seen him ranked ridiculously high on some p4p lists. Hes got to do a lot, lot more. I dont see taylor or prograis getting much credit for beating postol and indongo, people just dismiss that as them not being the same after crawford beat them, but doesnt seem to apply to brook where not only was he beat he then stepped down two weights.

I think the Brook that fought Porter and the Brook who fought Spence are both equally good. Brook fought well and won some early rounds. Spence's relentless attack and hard accurate punching to both head and body broke Brook down. While the eye injury was real Brook quit because he knew he was going to get knocked out.Spence would have KOed the Brook who beat Porter exactly the same way in my opinion. Brook is a good boxer and a hard puncher and a good all around fighter. He is slightly better than Porter but he did not beat Porter by that much. The fight was close. I am sure the eye injuries Brook suffered were very painful. When he fought GGG and Spence some Brook fans say he would have won if he had not suffered those injuries. I say Brook was in the ring with stronger better fighters than himself and was going to get knocked out even if his eye injuries never occurred.

thanks for your opinion, nicely said.

besides the eye injury, I also just wonder about the going from 160 to 147 and the impact that had.

I kind of agree with you here. I like like Spence as much as the next guy. He is probably the "Truth" but he has been getting ALOT of credit for Brook and Lamont. Obviously, we can nitpick Bud's resume but I don't feel like at this time Spence can make a strong case for having a better resume than Bud. A unification win over Shawn will probably change that for.
To me, despite being on the shelf for awhile, Keith is the only guy who should be allowed to talk **** about the other young top 147lbs resumes.

GGG made a job on Brook, spence just finished the business. And Spence looked bad in early rounds of Brook fight.

I just think that Spence is better than Brook. There isn't much in it and I enjoyed the fight but Spence was too strong in the end.

Brook hugged his way to a win

He could not do that against Spence because Errol is too big and strong. It was the first time Brook faced someone close to his own size asides for Carson Jones

The way to beat Brook is simply to put it on him, after round 6 he begins to break down.

The scary part is Spence was not even in his prime when he fought Brook.

Brook was clearly winning the fight in the first half, but due to being badly weight drained, he wasn't going to be up to the job in the second half. Which is why I picked Spence to win. Throw in the fact that Brook's other eye was weakened due to the damage to the other eye, and it isn't a recipe for success.

With a fully fit Brook, i'd have him beating Spence quite clearly. Brook would be able to do to Spence what he did in the first half for the full 12 rounds and take a clear decision.
