  • Comments Thread For: Robert Garcia Prefers Mikey Face Lomachenko, Talks Spence

So what is the current status of the proposed bout between IBF welterweight titlist Errol Spence and unified lightweight champion,Mikey Garcia? Robert Garcia, who is Mikey's older brother and co-trainer, told BoxingScene.com - "As of right now Mikey's still looking forward to that fight and looking into that fight. To my understanding, it may not happen this year so that's probably something that will benefit us in training for that fight.

So would all boxing fans. Just like Loma was not long for 130, so the Rigo fight had to happen before the Mikey fight while Loma and Rigo were still close enough in weight, so Loma-Mikey must happen now, before Spence-Mikey, because once Mikey moves up, he will no longer be able to make 135 anymore, and the Loma-Mikey fight is dead.

Mikey is looking at two big fights. One vs Loma, one vs Spence. Doing it in the order of Loma, then Spence, allows Mikey to cash in twice. Doing it in the order of Spence first prevents Mikey from ever fighting Loma, which is the bigger fight, and also the safer fight for Mikey's career.

I bet you said the same thing about Loma-Rigo and many other fights. Stop using this tired old lie. Arum is way more brave in matchmaking his fighters than Al Haymon is. Stop lying! In fact I even have a perfect example for you relevant to this exact topic. See, Arum is actually the one who tried to match Mikey tough vs Gamboa when Mikey was still with Arum, it was Mikey who wanted no part of that fight. And as we know, the fighters who want no part of tough fights run to Al Haymon, so that's exactly what Mikey did. Years later, he's STILL never fought an elite opponent, OR even the top guy at ANY weight class he's been in! It's a joke. His career is manufactured on paper just like Floyd's was. "4 division champion, I fought this many champions, blah blah, this proves I'm a Hall of Famer," all that bull**** when in reality, he cherry picked TITLISTS in various weight classes who were ALL still smaller than him because of his epic ability to weight bully MULTIPLE weight classes, but he never fought the best guys.

You can't keep pinning these things on Arum. In this case, it's on Mikey Garcia, and the formula he's following is straight out of the Al Haymon/Floyd Mayweather ducker playbook.

These Garcia’s are playing a very smart game. The fighter says I’m hungry I want to fight the best as in Spence and the older brother is the voice of reason suggesting Spence isn’t a logical fight. Meanwhile everyone is praising Mikey for his courage but he has made absolutely no attempt in making that fight apart from telling everyone it’s easier to fight Spence than Loma as they have the same manager.

I would be more optimistic about Mikey’s attempts only he has mentioned Danny, Cotto,Crawford, linares,Thurman,Loma and now Spence and nothing ever materialises

Mickey's professional boxing record right now is 39-0, so lets make it four more fights, that way Mickey-Mouse will be close to 50-0 and have the 'Option' of challenging Chayaphon Moonsri for TBE!
