They care because of this whole black consciousness movement that's been going on online the last few years, or whatever it's called, combined with the promotion of anti-white racism in the mainstream media, combined with the lie that Donald Trump is a white supremacist and white supremacists elected him and blacks are being systematically discriminated against and hated by a large portion of the country. All these lies have created an "it's us against the world" mentality among many black Americans, and that's just carried over to boxing where these people support Floyd, Ward, Haymon, Spence, Wilder, etc, no matter what, because of their skin color. The same way they view Trump relative to America, that's how they view Arum, HBO,Hearn, Kathy Duva, etc, relative to boxing. Trump represents white supremacy in America to them, and every white promoter and boxer, or any TV channel that promotes white boxers, represents white supremacy in boxing to them.
Is it crazy? Yes. Is it really that surprising that it's come to this in boxing after how effectively they were brainwashed about race regarding the nation at large? No, it's not. One follows the other. They've been taught that the media and social structures at large in the country are run by white supremacists, so if you believe that, why wouldn't they also believe that the boxing media, and the power promoters in boxing like Arum, are also run by white supremacists? I mean, you can even find videos on youtube claiming that the reason HBO is not picking up Kovalev-Alvarez II is not because Kovalev is past his prime and HBO's boxing budget is dying, but rather because HBO was only in the Kovalev business in the first place because they wanted to push white supremacism by hyping a white fighter, but now that he lost to a black fighter, and they, the video posits, know that the black fighter will beat him again in the rematch, they have no interest in promoting the black fighter, Alvarez, and that's why they're not going to pay to air the rematch.
This isn't just one video, by the way. This **** is absolutely rampant within boxing social media. This is really the way many of these people think, so obviously, Floyd, Haymon, Showtime, etc are absolute heroes to these people because Haymon is the one who *****ed HBO over, Floyd is the one who left HBO, and Showtime in concert with Haymon and Floyd is HBO's direct competition. If HBO is white supremacist, and Showtime is HBO's rival, then Showtime must be anti-white supremacist, right? Showtime must be fighting the evil empire, right? That's how most members of this subculture among black boxing fans think.
